I bought 4 tubes of ASEs from GoldMart as my 1st buy from them. I used a personal check, so expected some delay. The chronology is as follows:
11/2 ordered coins via Internet 11/7 GoldMart received my check 11/8 My local CU receives my check and sends payment from my account 11/12 I send email to GoldMart asking if shipping is in progress. No answer. 11/15 Received email stating that shipping has occurred. 11/17 Received coins via USPS. Well packaged, arrived w/o damage.
I commended GoldMart for their efforts but also wondered if they could speed up the shipping some.
They send me an email asking me to review the product that I bought. Well, they are 2012 BU grade ASEs, right, so what's not to like about that? I also included the chronology above and some minor criticism of their shipping speed. When I looked up my review on their web site, the chronology is all there but the criticism of their shipping speed is not. They did not include that in the review, which seems dishonest to me. Personally, I would rather them not publish my review at all, rather than just skim off the part they like and reject the part they do not.
Anyone else think that 15 days from ordering to receiving bullion is too long or that using an edited version of my review is OK? Just curious.

Pretty sure TBK is their main customer lol.... Seems like hes says they take about three weeks to get it out, lol.... I laugh at these big corps with teams of workers on comp and they send at those slow speeds.... I am a one man show with two jobs and a newborn and only reason I didn't send out a roll of Peace dollars today that sold last night is because I had to work all day but they will be in transit by tom afternoon baring death and buyer will have most likely by Saturday, lol.... And even if I did die before shipment, the buyer is covered by ebay, lol....

I think 11 days is acceptable. We all wish for them sooner but I would put a 2 week cap on it for sure. I've oredered from some places where it has taken 6 weeks to get the coins and that with paying online direct to boot. JMHO.

Ed, I just placed my first order with Goldmart on the 15th, and have yet to receive notice of shipment. Here is the chronology of my order:
11/15 Ordered coins and mailed check. 11/20 Notice that Goldmart received payment. 11/20 Bank account shows payment sent to Goldmart. 11/28 Goldmart order online still says 'Processing.'
I don't care for the long wait, but it's not a huge deal for me. Waiting a couple of weeks to receive shipment sure beats paying the extra money to use a credit card in my book.
As for the review, picking and choosing parts to publish is not okay with me. I feel that is dishonest. Thanks for letting me know that. If they ask me to review their product(s), I'll add a disclaimer that I wish for my review to not be edited for their benefit.

I've made several purchases from Goldmart. Their standard practice is a one-week "holding period" starting from the time they receive any "paper payment" (i.e: personal check, guaranteed check, certified check, bank "cashier's check," postal money order, Travellers Check(s), you name it...). I find slapping the same delay on a USPO money order or other guaranteed payment that gets put on a personal check objectionable, but I have to admit that I don't find their prices objectionable. My purchases are usually $1K shots so I'm not a high roller and I don't get major quantity discounts wherever I go, and I find their prices pretty much the best down at my level.
You can get quicker movement out of them with a wire payment, but I'm not about to pay for that at my level.
The basic issue w/ Goldmart is the balance between that one week "holding period" and their prices. Under any circumstance, at least they beat the daylights out of the 2-week delay that Merit told me they always apply...

I have thought about ordering from them (or another online store) but the constant chatter about "hidden" costs and a little bit of confusion about the process has kept me away. Lets say I want 20 ASE and pay by personal check 1. I go online and order and provide my info - I think I saw I must provide a CC to hold my order - do they bill anything onto the card or is it like a hotel reservation where they just hold the info until you pay them by check? 2. Then I just mail them a personal check with a .45 stamp first class mail postmarked by tomorrow? 3. In this case if an ASE is currently 36.35 is my price $36.35x20 coins + $11.95s&h found in this grid http://www.goldmart.com/ordering-po...s-guidelines so it is $738.95 to my mailbox? I apprecate the help. I'm just gunshy with big purchases onlne. I had a bad experience ordering my wife's engagement ring off the internet 7yrs ago (it all turned out as planned just more expensive and a lot longer wait)

In response to Eds post most of those big sellers seem to be slow shippers, very annoying indeed. As far as the feedback goes I dont like the editing at all. That makes me believe nothing that is said in it since they just pick the parts they like to display. Its funny how they seem to think your timeline indicates a quick order. Its not terrible but by no means fast especially since your inquiry went unanswered. Quote: 2. Then I just mail them a personal check with a .45 stamp first class mail postmarked by tomorrow? You could, I would suggest at least having tracking on a check of that amount, itd be easy to tell if someone picked it off but why temp them

Berk,
1. They don't charge anything. 2. Yes. (They recommend you send in a priority envelope, but I used a $0.45 stamp in a standard envelope.) 3. Yes.
I think the 'hidden' costs people are referring to are when you are dealing with other methods of payment such as a credit card.

I've read horror stories about people shipping stuff to each other and problems occurring, and stuff from ebay beng lost or stolen (or maybe it never shipped and was a scam from the getgo) but has anyone on the forum ever themselves or remember hearing about anyone having a problem with theft or packages not arriving when ordering from reputable online dealer or is it pretty standard and low risk?

I wouldnt worry about a place like goldmart not shipping your item, I'm almost positive theyll have tracking on it too. I order online all the time and havent had a problem yet (knock on wood) other than a box coming open once but my mailman was honest and put the coin in my mailbox too. A few times its taken so long I started to think it was lost but the sellers were just taking forever to ship it

I've never had an issue. I've had many purchases from big dealers and everything has always worked out just as hoped.

berk -- Everybody gets the "first time horror story jitters." Call their 800# and talk to them. They'll answer your questions candidly and tell you how the drill goes. That advice goes for all the internet dealers. Doesn't hurt to google up reviews on them either, but don't go too crazy with that stuff or you'll never order anything from anybody. Sticking with the "mainstream" dealers is pretty safe and it's hard to do too much internet research.
When I order with Goldmart, they first email me when they got the order and giving it an order #, again to tell me when they got the payment, and then again to tell me when the involved order # went out and what the tracking # is. Once it's out the door, shipping has never taken uncomfortably long.
I've gotten into ordering online. I think it's best.

Ed,
1. Congrats on your purchase.
2. The wait-time of 2 weeks is not that bad in terms of online transactions. Communication is key in a timely and fair manner. If someone kept me in the loop saying the shipment is on the way, I would be fairly content. It's easy updates that can help and ease a clients purchase concerns. I can see when you have to follow-up for a fairly large transaction can be non-sense. That would irk me as well.
3. The editing & publishing of your partial comment is BS. I agree, all or nothing.

Berk for one always either print your invoices from purchases for peace of mind to such a place GM or do like me and digitally file them in a created/name folder in email like "purchased ebay items" or "sold ebay items" etc., that way if the crazy chance you didn't get your order you got some kind of proof. If your lucks this bad (opposite of jackwagon who just went to buy a beer and lotto ticket which is the jackpot) then this could happen to you via order lost in limbo.... Tons of fake things circulating on ebay, so that is another monster all in itself to deal with if you do indeed buy there.... As far as ebay I can promise all here ebay bends over backwards for the buyer verses the seller and you are more then protected, even though it may take a while to get your cash back.... I just refunded a fellow (he emailed 50 times in first week, and I am like you do know the distance between USA and italy is vast eh, lol) 350 dollar vintage diecast robot that got lost on way to Italy, or maybe he got it and claimed he DID NOT.... The thing is it was last tracked leaving New Jersey on the 22nd of last month right dead smack in the middle of hurricane Sandy.... NO lie I can quote FED X and UPS at 200 plus costs on medium size boxes 4 to 7 pounds on international shiping cause they will actually get item there safely but still robbery of the highway version. USPS has much better rates but once your package leaves country your TRACKING IS IN LIMBO, this is issue and allows for FRAUD, I promise you all been there and done this be weary.... I actually ship USPS through UPS store and pay a bit more at times and the lady there I deal with often said Canada is getting bad and Mexico about lost packs. Said both never had issues before but all of a sudden, and ITALY man look out for their custom laws, and it all varies from country to country.... Now I set my flat rate international shipping so high it stops out of country bidders from bidding. Hate to push away bus, but I hate either getting ripped off or item lost in transit where I end up buying it back either way even if it does not return to sender, lost, or get stolen by someone in between or shady buyer....

I love Goldmart for their prices and customer service. Their shipping has ALWAYS been slow for me (especially when I have paid by check or ordered something like a monster box that is drop shipped by a third party). I just chalk it up to the price I pay for getting a good deal.
[P.S. I never bother e-mailing them when I have a question -- I just give them a call...]

actually they got payment on the 8th from your CU and you received on the 17th so it is only 7 work days from them receiving payment until you had item in hand. this includes shipping time and processing time, I think that is pretty fast if you ask me. I am sure they get a lot of HUGE orders and it takes time to process all of them. I definitely wouldn't be complaining about a 7 day turn around from the day payment received until item is in hand from a big company like this. If it was 30 days I would understand but 7 work days? I don't really understand how that is unacceptable
