I agree it looks genuine. Fishtailing would confirm for sure but the date seems a bit week which suggest the metal wad missing when struck.

Can't see any Blakesley effect from these pictures. Sometimes, a Blakesley effect does not occur, even with genuine clipped blanks.
As I understand it, a blank is punched out from a strip from one side only. It looks as if the 'bite' was taken out not with a punch, but with a cutter that has jaws. I stand to be corrected.

All of my genuine clips have a similar 'bite' on the bit that is taken out. Very few of my decimal clips show blakesley as well. Most just have a little fishtailing.

Guaranteed genuine, the rounding edges of the (corner of the) clip say a lot for it. Nice score. A pity it wasn't 1968.

I have a clip on a 1968 1c but it isn't of the same size as this one. Its straight as well, not as interesting as the curved ones.

Enworb, it seems like you have a little bit of everything! Sometimes I think I get a little jealous, other times I think...thank god my excessive addiction hasn't gone too far, but every now & then for some of my coins, they're off to the chopping block (or ebay as others know it).

These days, I reckon most of the obvious error coins are probably intercepted by staff of the Security Companies. The Security Companies probably get their batches of coins by the hundreds of thousands, and possibly even millions, so they would be the first 'port of call' as it were for the errors to be noticed.

Yes Enworb, I'd be quite happy to count by hand, roll and bag by hand and even take my work home with me! Not sure how the pay would end up .... I'd probably have to give them some ....
