The 1930 penny is the rarest but even in the lowest grades would cost close to $10k. The 1925 is the next lowest mintage after the 1925 and is the most valuable date available for most collectors.

Look closely at the left downstroke of the 2nd N in PENNY.

The left leg of the second "N" is not complete.
This is why these coins are called broken "N" veriety.

Is the broken N variety actually any scarcer than the normal coin?

Renniks Varieties has it a Rare which is the base rarity for a variety (just after v.scarce).

Flicking through I can see Common, Scarce, V.Scarce, Rare, V.Rare and Ext Rare. (So I'm assuming they'd be referred to in that order .... can't see a listing in the book).

Nice coin BTW!

As a guess, based on sorting thousands of copper coins over the years, about 10%(or less) of 1925 Pennies have the broken N,probaly the last mintage with that die.The sleepers of the Pennies are the 1919 double dot & the 1920 with the dot above the top scroll, they just don't exist in any sort of numbers and IMO are much rarer than the 1925.Again IMO but while the 1920 gets some sort of premium the 1919 has been undervalued for decades.
