A local seller is selling a NGC graded 1926 MS-63 BN penny
The only similar one I can find on ebay is ICCS MS-63 lusturous brown for 700$ (a bit high)

I believe Charlton has it listed but only as "RED" not "BROWN". I am interested but I need a value of what it's even worth (approximately)

Also what's a good price to grab it as. He had it for sale for 175$ but asked me to make an offer!

Edit: more descriptive :)

Careful with NGC graded Canadian coins.

If the price seem a bargain, there's probably a valid reason why.

Remember, nobody sells a $10 bill for $5

"Hi Jake, yeah, I'm looking for cash. Used to spend some serious time and money working on a Cdn penny collection but had a major medical issue and ended up on a disability pension. Not looking to expand the collection unfortunately. Happy to work with you...$125 is absolute bottom line. OK?"

It's difficult to tell without pictures.

I certainly don't want to talk you out of it.

Go with your gut feeling.

On the positive side, I don't think for $125 you're going to get hurt that bad even if the coin is overgraded.

Heritage sold a PCGS MS64RB for $282 in Sept and an ICCS MS62B for $74 in Jan (not the prettiest). A PCGS 63 brown went for $207 in 2010.

I would say $75 to $150 is the right range. I wouldn't rush to pay $150 though.

He is in surgery until Jaunary 10th so anytime after, he said I can buy it, his lowest is 125$ (which is definitely not a bad price even if it is over graded by TWO) but I might crack and send to ICCS, opinions on this?

At $125 you're getting it for less than 40% of an MS60. http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...nt-1920-1936 Odds are pretty good it's at least an MS60 but you'll be able to confirm that once you see the coin. Any signs of circulation wear and the value drops dramatically.

p.s. I don't worry too much about Brown vs Red myself but I know the majority do so I use a rule of thumb of knocking about 25% off but I vary that between 10% and 50% depending on availability.

The picture did look to have some type of corrosion on it.

I agree with others... from pictures this coin appears that it would be MS-60 at best...

Be careful about using the coinscanada.com as a reference for values...

There are often mistakes in the listings on that site...

Their listed values for 1926 uncirculated penny are way out... they start out at $340 for MS-60 which is total mistake...

Canadian Coin News "Trends" lists value in MS-60 at $100 bucks...

If you want this date and are patient about watching on ebay you'll probably be able to buy an MS-60 in an ICCS slip for $65...

take care,

cameron93

I agree with cameron93. Trends for ms60 are $100, ms62 $200, and ms63 $700. the coinsandcanada website only update their prices about once every year. So be careful.
