"The coins are Mutilated, bent, broken, torn, cut- in bad shape."

Pretty sue it's illegal in Canada to deface ANY legal tender. but in the USA only illegal to deface US currency, and then only illegal if for fraudulent purposes.

How is this an error? Just to clarify, I don't think these are errors; and I think the seller's description is fine. I can just picture someone buying these and listing some of them as "rare errors" of one sort or another!

wow. he's also got 18 lbs of mutilated dimes. Where does one even get this stuff? You'd expect the mint just to melt them down. I'd have to double-check what a dime weighs but thats probably close to $300 worth. Who knows maybe there's some 2000P's in there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-Pounds-O...em2ec550ec8b

Coins rejected by coin rolling/counting services. This can be a great source for error finds!

In the USA, it's not against the law to deface US coinage. With that said, it's not against the law to refuse to take a coin for payment, especially if the coin has been mutilated.

Just to clarify my last post, it is illegal to mutilate a US coin for fraudulent reasons.
