Hey just wanted to ask what would cause a coin to turn a colour like this?

Well that has to be one of the wierdest toned coins I have come across I mean I understand you can get some wierd toning on coins but this takes the case when I first saw it I thought it had to be some sort of chemical reaction or PVC damage of some wierd sort [:0]

I've seen US coins with similar toning...

That's where my opinion comes from.

I've seen silver thats been stored in tins a similar colour,must be oxides in the air or something as coins mot touching the tin still tone.

Looks like its been boiled in oil,maybe it got mixed up

PVC damage ? just puting it out there as a possibility.

PVC will usually send silver a a pale greeny colour.

I dug some old worn silver from some old danscos and they had toned a goldy/brown colour but it was only around the rims. I dont know how it could get over the entire coin face like that.

If my source is correct, this color would be a cause for worry, but only if it smells smokey.

Cigarette smoke can cause that kind of toning.

However, it is natural too, in some environments.

Only worry if smokey.

Blood Stains? Mustard Gas?. Some kind of war damage is my guess.

stick a silver coin in red dirt for 6 months, see if the oxides in the soil discolour it in a similar way

Possibly could of been cleaned in a tumbler with some copper coins.
