Well guys and gals...Today is last day of the penny where I live. Picked up 12 boxes today to add to the 4 I picked up earlier this week. Kind of a sad day in my world. Hope these boxes show me some love. CHEERS!

Well, this Yankee sends his love!
Sad, bittersweet. But time and tide pass and sweep away the past. WAIT! Coin Collectors preserve the past! We all keep history alive. Small comfort, but comfort nonetheless.

If I lived in Canada I'd be in a real funk right now. I think they should just let them circulate until they disappear. Also, in all of the posts that I read from Canadian penny roll searchers, there always seems to be a generous amount of US cents also found. Suppose those are headed for the melting pot too. Probably a lot of Wheat cents.

Good point coppernickeldaddy. I know down here they usually put aside foreign coins when they are turned in. I wonder if Canada will do the same

if you are canadian, and want more good pennies, I suggest you put an ad on kijiji, asking people to sell their pennies to you instead of the bank.. once people take them to the bank.. they are gone for good.. the banks have strict directions to not hand out any pennies even the ones customers bring in.. it really is sad.

I guess you can always visit the US and look through our cents--while they continue to be minted.

My heart goes out to our Canadian friends. Henceforth, I intend to put aside all the Canadian cents I come across while searching rolls of Lincoln cents and making sure the Canadian cents find a home with a Canadian collector.
