Can't tell, are all the letters of LIBERTY there? If so no problem maybe even VF but DETAILS - Heavy Pitting or Corossion. Unless its from the image compression, the coin in the photo has a very gritty, porous look to it I see. Unless it's a cool RPD or variety it's only a ¢.75-$1.50 coin all day long to a dealer.

Looks like full liberty, maybe F/VF details. I would expect to get a dollar for this tops. Starting at 99 cents and the cost of a stamp, I may get one bid, maybe.

I had a hard time telling if it is bold liberty. The bottom line is broken up some like a Fine coin but sometimes appears VF. The curls like more VF than F. Eh, could just call it F/VF details but F details would definitely be the more conservative grade. It is a dollar coin so don't matter much. I can't even get a buck and a stamp for coins without full liberty at least unless of course it is from the 1880s or earlier.

As a rule of thumb, selling coins online in lots (one or more coin) that worth under 5$ usually doesn't end up well.
If you have a lot of low grade / problem IHCs, I'd sell them in groups of 10 or so.

I think you may be right, people seem to buy them at a buck a piece like that and don't really understand these "cull lots" with tons of problem IHCs that always seem to get plenty of bids. Of course the better date coins I would sell individually in low grades or with issues. I had a nice lot with many XFs in it that sold well individually, but those sold out except a few I decided to keep. I have tried some date runs though with V nickels and that didn't go well, people like them listed individually and will buy several.

What is the fixation with "cull lots"? People like to hoard those Indian heads or something?

Quote: People like to hoard those Indian heads or something? Call me crazy, but I like to buy G-VG problem free IHCs. I have over a thousand of them, and keeping on buying (doubt if I'll ever sell these). I sometimes buy low grade lots, pick the few I like and pass the rest back to the market. I do the same with V nickels. Maybe I'll post sometime this weekend a few finds from these lots.

why not if you really like them, I do the same with the Two Cent Pieces, I don't have anywhere near a thousand - yet. But I'd love to there are a few of us "hard-core" types that go for one series and try to get every die pairing catalogued, I know of a couple of collectors attempting that feat. In Morgan dollar collecting it's almost become mainstream now with the advent of VAM'ing. It's a fun subset of the hobby to get caught up in. Some people collect by quantity, some by rarity, others by quality or type or even combinations - low-ball sets, finest known sets, type sets, date and mint mark, by country, by date, etc. Having a few cool pocket pieces on your person can always be a great conversation starter. Low grade coins are perfect for it! Share with your local cashiers at the gas station, grocery, etc. Maybe they'll find something cool and save it for you.

I know what you mean. This was from a lot where there was some good dates in the mix so I bought it. This is actually my favorite IHC I got, it could maybe use a little Verdicare on a couple small spots. I also have some VF and XF I kept from the lot as well. Sometimes I pass on coins I meant to keep because someone needed that date. I haven't seen any decent IHC lots since.
