I carry 3 Morgan dollars with me at all times....jingling around with some pennies.....to my dismay they must have slipped out of my pocket at some point today.....I've been trying to re-trace my steps but to no avail.....granted these 3 were really only worth around spot....but I'd grown very attached to them....moral of the story, keep track of your pocket pieces....I'm kicking myself right now. My hope is someone finds them that will appreciate them. |

I have lost my 2 Ikes a few times, but always in the house and have recovered them. My sympathies.

Ouch! Sorry to hear this. I would hate to lose Ikes also, but losing Morgans would be worse.

Ouch! So sorry to hear that! This is precisely the reason I do not carry a pocket piece... I've lost far too many things from falling out of pockets.. From money to knives.. Nothing like dropping a $200 knife somewhere.. Except like dropping some coins...  uuugh.. I can't even imagine.. O well, I guess hopefully some young kid finds them and gets into collecting!! (Hopefully they don't buy a pack of gum with them  ) lol |

You never know where they might turn up. I lost a Peace dollar I had carried in my pocket for years one day and searched frantically to no avail, yet about 3 months later a friend of mine handed it to me and said he found it under the seat of his car and wondered if it might be mine because he didn't know anyone else that would carry one around. |

Clad Ikes are the way to go, they're cheaper.
Too big for me, how about a poorer condition silver half, or perhaps a silver quarter of the SLQ type?
How about a drummer boy silver proof? The numismatically unitiated would show some passing interest in that.
The quarter could be carried in a screw acrylic case which would both protect it and distinguish itself in your pocket by feel alone. Left over cases from proof sets are available for recycling from most coin dealers, and should not cost more than a dollar or so.

I feel your pain. I used to carry a silver peso from the phillipines as a pocket piece & it disappeared a few months ago.

every time I have lost mine it has been in the couch cushion where it slipped out of my pocket while laying on the couch watching tv. It may be worth a shot to look in the cushions or under any chair or couch you have sat in at your home to see if they happen to be there

I have carried pocket pieces for decades and currently carry a Peace and a Morgan dollar. During this time I have lost three that disappeared at some time. One loss I know happened when I was looking for a new couch and had tested out many examples only to find my dollar was gone. |

So I guess some good advice might be, if you're looking to acquire an expensive pocket piece, pay for it by selling all the couches in your home?

I wish it were at my house. I had them in my pocket when I left at 7am yesterday morning.....had a day full of running around town combined with work....got back late and they were missing. I did check my car pretty thoroughly .....oh well it is what it is.

Only place it can be is down is the seat. I dropped a knife once. Slipped out of my pocket into the car's seat. Was later found by my sister. I got it back.

Rather than retracing your steps retrace where you were sitting down. I've carried a morgan pocket piece since 1997 and the only time it has fallen out was when I was sitting on a couch. Good luck.

I feel you pain!  I have a fistful of change on me at all times, and I obsessively count it every few hours to make sure every coin is still there. from my experience couches and recliners are the WORST at eating your coins forever! I've developed an odd habit of sitting down very slowly and making sure that no change spills out of my pocket any time I sit down. Every time I get up, I check to make sure no coins fell out by mistake. It sounds very OCD, but it really works and I do it without even thinking about it. I hope you find them!  again I feel your pain  |
