I've been CRH for a few months, mostly nickels and I do 2-5 boxes a week. I am a bank of america customer (savings, checking, credit and they even bought my mortgage 2 years ago). I move around from branch to branch so as not to make myself too much of a nuisance. For the first time today, a teller told me there is a fee for loose coin deposits: $3 if the bag has the same type of coin and $5 if it's mixed. I talked with the manager and she said this has been in place for 2 years. They did waive the fee today but this is the first I ever heard about this. I checked my account and I haven't been charged fees before. Anyone know about this or have a similar experience?

I pick up my coins at one BoA and drop them off at another BoA and they never give me a rough time.

BoA will give you big bags to fill up with coins and you just right how much is in the bag and what kind of coin and they deposit it into your account. They never charge me fees thow.

I agree that b of a is just not that customer oriented. I too had them a few years ago and was doing free coin bag drops a lot but then the few came. But not only that I have met a lot of greedy tellers that had silver in the tray and when asked gave me stuff below the tray ...

I hate banks so much. The coin collectors should have all the money and let bankers buy from us occasionally. Then WE can be rude to them!

I agree, they should bend over backwards for us collectors, and take losses for our gain. Never have had a problem with BOA, minimum balance in my checking acct, have never wrote a check, have ordered coin, never any fees. Policy varies branch to branch and they will make up policy as they go along, if they want to get rid of you.

I've never had a big issue with BofA. I opened an account to help with CRHing. Mega banks have been the best about not blinking an eye at the amount of deposit or requested coin. That's a big plus. That said, I would never have my family checking at a mega bank. Most small and regional banks offer free checking with reasonable terms. Most of the mega banks offer "free" checking but the terms are horrible. They get you to open an account, you figure out all the little fees are eating you alive so you suffer (because you don't want to change deposits or auto withdrawals) or switch to one of their other tiers. At least that's the business model. I'll pass.

Not only that, Owassokie, but after you've finally had enough and decided to close your account - if you have not had it opened at least 180 days - they charge you an "Early Account Closure Fee."
