Hi all. I'm new here, though I've been lurking for a little bit. I'll admit, I'm not a coin collector and really don't know much about it and I originally found my way here as I was looking up some coins that were left to me. However, I do have to say that the enthusiam on this forum is a little bit contagious! In the coins that were left to me, there's a couple that I was always planning on keeping simply because I rather like them. For the others, my plan was to just cash them in (as I think most of them from what I'm gathering, are fairly common and all in circulated condition and aren't really worth more than face value anyway), and I may still do that, but just from reading and browsing around the forum, I think I may keep a few more than I was originally planning on.

Anyway, I do have a couple of questions though regarding 2 coins. One is a 1975 Lincoln Cent with what appears to be some clipping to it. I guess I just want to know for sure if it's a mint clipping error or if this happened post-mint? The other coin is 1979P Susan B dollar. I had read about the wide rim/near date kind, and me being new at this, I wanted to get an opinion on if this is in fact one of those. I'm second guessing my newbie self.

Sorry if the pictures aren't great!

Both are the real deals. The clip has the blakesley affect on it opposite the clip. It is a incomplete planchet cent.
The 1979 is a near date. Nice finds.

I see you have already gotten good news in the above posts from an expert.

If I may offer a little advice... keep all the coins you inherited. It is possible you will have more interest later (perhaps decades from now), they probably don't take up a lot of space, and I think it's better than trying to replace them later.

Hope to see you around the community in the future.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and also for the info! Being so new, it's nice to learn what it is I have exactly!

The bulk of what was left to me is mostly Susan B's, Eisenhower dollars, Kennedy halves and nickels ranging from 1903 to 1959 (plus an 1868 which is the one that kind of peaked my interest in looking at the rest, along with 1905 and 1929 quarters). And some wheat cents. I think there's some sets too, but those I havent really looked at yet to know what's there and I don't plan on parting with those. Mainly was thinking of parting with part of what I have in "bulk" I guess, keeping select ones. I may change my mind though.
