okay, so I need some help here. found this dime, and its funny, its this copper color and might be SLIGHTLY thicker than normal dime and when its dropped on something hard, it has a lower pitch than all the other dimes have. can anyone give some feedback? hmmm copper doesn't rust  , that looks like rust on it. Maybe steel?

how can I check? and after copper has been exposed to oxygen for a period of time, doesn't it start to get this green effect? Like the statue of liberty. this has some green on it too. thanks for the help

Looks like a metal detecting find - there are still little "Flecks" of nickel on it. It has been buried for a while, probably in some very dark soil (like near an Oak tree), and that has stained the coin. Or, it could have come from a beach or acid, where it became corroded. I do not believe it is not an error coin though, just a coin with a little back story.

I agree with madman1200 I pull these out of the ground all the time with my detector. The deeper they are the more coppery they become until they reach the point where there is no plating left. check here https://goccf.com/t/12914

well, I broke the cardinal rule the other day. yes, I cleaned it. the outer brown layer came off relatively easy, but the coin must be stained, because there was still a deep green/black color to it. you guys were right, but I just HAD to find out.
