I have this penny that is perplexing me. First of all it's kinda dirty so I'm not sure if I'm seeing what I think I see. To me it looks like the L in liberty is upside down. Weird? Yeah it is. I can't tell for sure. Please look at these pics and tell me what you think.

as for the L I believe it's a Grease Filled Die that caused that.

I think graceoutcast is correct ,it looks like the lower part of the L did not strike up due to a filled die,,

But why does it look like the L is upside down? Why does it have that little attachment on top on the left that gives it the capital L shape? It's not a shadow. It's the metal?
It's cool looking regardless what it is and I'll probably keep it.

Die wear caused the ridge you're seeing as the upside down part of the L, and the normal part of the L doesn't appear to be there also because of die wear.

The design of a coin is hubbed into the die all at once. Missing letters, upside down letters, crooked letters and other drastic changes to the design are not possible.
