Does anyone here think that, maybe the Great Seal with the eagle on the current reverse of the 1-49th year Kennedy halves should be replaced with an image of American flag as a new permanent design on the reverse of the half, and perhaps a little upgrading of Kennedy's head on the front of the 2014 half as well? I don't mind the front of the Kennedy half being left the same, but the back needs to lose the eagle, and maybe have four new reverses in 2014 much like the Lincoln Penny and the Jefferson nickel, then go to a permanent design in 2015. What does everyone here think should go on the back of the new Kennedy halves? Should they be Kennedy themed? Wouldn't it be idea to have the American Flag on the back of the "50" cent coin as well as on the front of the $"50" bill? (By the way, were any changes at all, made to Lincoln's portrait on the new pennies? If so, I don't notice it)

I like the 4 different reverses idea like the Lincoln's in 2009 but I think it's time to retire the Kennedy half with the 50th anniversary next year.

Wow! Four different backs would be great! And available in silver too. YES!
I'm OK with the front remaining the same.

I would buy it. Four reverses in 2014, and retirement thereafter.

The four reverses is a great idea but it might be a tad late to get it done for 2014...maybe not
That would be a great set...proof and uncirc (or "enhanced") each from 2 Mints....silver of course

The Four Reverse of the Apocalypse. That coin needs to be retired or at the very least, a face lift.

The four reverses is a great idea. Id be okay with a face lift too as long as they dont modernize it like the nickel. Maybe instead of a face lift retire the Kennedy half and move onto another president

By the way, that is not the Great Seal on the reverse, it is an adaptation of the Presidential Seal

I'd say email the senators and representatives from Massachusetts to point out this obvious opportunity to honor their favorite son.

I'd like to see an update to the whole coin. I think Kennedy needs to be retired from it and a whole different image put in place.

I like the idea of 4 different reverses, but if they have not started yet then it isn't likely to happen. I think a special silver or proof/reverse proof coin/set is more likely. And I think they should retire the Kennedy half afterward. But I thought the same thing about the Lincoln cents for 2009 and it has not been retired yet. Our government moves too slow.

Why, oh WHY, do so many of you want the half dollar denominatiom "retired"? In the economy we are in with all of this hyper-inflation, I just do not understand, "why" anyone would suggest eliminating a LARGE denomination coin, such as the half, when we should be talking more about getting rid of LOWER denomination coins, such as the penny, nickel and possibly the dime, which do not buy, well, anything, and are just there to make change. Let's talk about keeping the quarter, half, $1 coin and adding a $2 coin and a $5 coin. THOSE should be the "five" coins we have in circulation. Not pennies and nickels, but maybe, just maybe, keep the dime aroind for a few more years. Maybe a decade more of the dime, but as gor the half, other than redesigning and resizing it leave the half alone, I say.

Oh, and, I was not trying to act atitudey with any of you guys. I'm just so puzzled as to why anyone in this day and age would want to retire a coin denomination that you can actually STILL get "some" change back from, if you buy the right things, and not focusing on coins that won't buy you a a spec of dust these days. Except maybe, the "Meijer Penny Horsey Ride" one, five or ten times. LoL (-;

Plus I dont think anyone said eliminate it, just change it and get a fresh new design.
