I don't have time to do a full write up on this coin as I have other commitments this week, but I thought I'd share this with the Coin Community Forum first. Charles Morgan *** After three months of research, NGC has confirmed the existence of a new die variety for the Connecticut State Quarter. The variety, likely a trial strike, features three additional branches in T. James Farrell's depiction of the Charter Oak, which are located on the tree's right side right above limb numbers 116 and 124. The additional branches, numbered 141, 142, and 142B were dropped from the pattern according to Mint records shortly before the coin went into production in the late summer months of 1999. A minor variety was confirmed last year by CONECA, that reverse featured the newly found branches 142 and 142B but lacked the very distinctive branch 141, which forms a wishbone about a quarter of an inch from the rim at the 5 o'clock position. That variety sold for $164 dollars at a November 2012 Heritage Auction. It was graded MS-64 by ANACS. The new variety was discovered in a $1,000 Connecticut quarter bag bearing a P Mint mark. New Variety, note additional branches: Will be called FS-901 Regular CT Quarter Reverse without additional three branches. *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I thought some of my Connecticut quarters looked odd whenever I focused on limb numbers 116 & 124!

Umm... any possibility of arrows pointing to the extra branches - specifically?
Interesting two new ones include a number 42.

Good one. I was just about to add it to a compiled list of state and ATB varieties.

I have always thought that the Connecticut State Quarter would be the absolute worst one to have a die variety due to the busyness of the Charter Oak design, even worse than the hundred different Minnesota Quarter varieties

I lightened up the dark "extra limbs" pic, so we can look for the 3 extra branches!
