Wow - this is what I was wanting to see - more MP per each pic. I use a 5 MP camera right now, crop, and zoom the pics. But I would like to be able to get in closer to see details of RPMs, DDOs, etc. better.
I have been impressed by the pics people have posted here with their 2 MP USB microscopes. So now that a USB microscope takes larger images, I assume that it will be possible to get even larger pics of RPMs etc. simply by setting the USB microscope to max zoom, snapping a pic, and then zooming in on the pic.

Looks great, it does figure as I ordered the other one in the other thread about an hour before you posted this. Will have to wait and see how the reviews are. I like the idea of win or mac software since the next tablet more than likely will be a mac based and wife already has a mac puter. not bad as the only other one was more money than that one and had a cheesy stand. the stage looks to be pretty sturdy. Book marked it and will keep it in mind.

The draw back I see on this one is that the minimum power is 20x. I have the 44302 and it goes down to 10x. Also if I was looking to buy the 5MP I would check around before buying it from Celestron direct. Their prices are a bit higher then say ebay or amazone. John1

Huh, I feel like that's a complete improvement on everything I absolutely hated about the smaller (cheapo) Celestron scope. After hours of focusing that thing, I'd be willing to shell out the extra money for the sturdy setup. The 5mp camera is added incentive, so long as they aren't stretching the truth about Mac OSX compatibility this time.

inperil - sorry if you know this already... but your mac can run Windows natively. So anything on the market works with OS X. Here is a pic of my system running Windows and OS X simultaneously. The Ben pic is being used by a Windows-only program and the window in front is CCF in OS X. You can see the Windows bar at the bottom.

Earle,
Funny enough, I just put in an order last night for a Windows 7 OEM copy and a program to run natively! Judging by your screencap, I think it was the right decision.

Great inperil!
You can either make it so you choose which OS you want on startup using the free bootcamp program from Apple, or you can choose (as I do) to run them simultaneously by getting a program called VMware Fusion or a program called Parallels. I have an old version of VMware Fusion I use, but if I needed a way to run both simultaneously, people are now saying Parallels is much better (including my son who has Win 7 on his for the graphics program we like).
Keeping this thread online. I find it interesting awhile ago I created a thread asking why the USB microscopes were only 2MP/ I am sorry I do not remember who said the tech was incompatible, but now they DO have a 5MP. So I wonder what is stopping them from putting a 16MP in one? I wonder if they are just milking the public for everything they can.
The only reason I really desired higher MP is b/c after you take a pic, you can zoom in on it w/ a graphics program for even closer scrutiny - such as looking at RPMs and DD)s.
