I could understand doing this, if the America the Beautiful Quarters program was over. From what I could see in 2015 there would be 5 quarters, 2016 there would be 6, then 2017 back to 5, and so on through 2020 since in 2021, there is only one America the Beautiful Quarter. Or did I not read the article right? I rather see them all come out together, even it is just for a year. Ken

I dont like the idea as they worte it. If they wanted to redo the dimes and nickels and halfs by all means go for it but I want the ATB Quarters to play out. But my biggest issue with their ideas is the two design alternating years, what a disaster for albums. In all seriousness though make the switch or dont, dont go back and forth ect. Put out a new one run it for a couple decades and redo it, rinse and repeat

I agree with Basebal21 besides not liking alternating designs, it is the same as saying that the design board can't come up with a new original idea so let's got back to what we had. There has to be someone on the board who is an independent thinker who can formulate and design new coins. The problem is most likely that they may or may not translate into a workable coin option.
Also, I voted no, but the counted didn't register my vote. Must not like disenting votes.

Well the way I read the story - politics is at play with the current coinage. There is a belief that they can't persuade Congress to switch the coins out of former presidents back to the Liberty design. To some extent I can understand that, but seriously what do most current politicians have to do with the likes of Roosevelt, Washington, Lincoln or even Kennedy... that is probably a good reason why the original coins had no political figures on them - and probably why we should again not have political figures on them again.

I had to vote no. Why would we continue the dead Presidents? Just go back to Liberty and keep it simple. The ATB s could continue but with a new obverse. My no vote did not register either.

basebal21... I actually thought I was agreeing with you! Kill the Washington obverse and replace it with Liberty.....no curveball just a new obverse.

This is depressingly dumb... Please just go back to liberty, OR stick with the presidents.
As much as I love the states/ATB, I'm ready to go back to some regularity.
If this happens and they start flip flopping, I'm don't chasing the moderns.

Quote: basebal21... I actually thought I was agreeing with you! Sort of were at an impasse over the obverse lol. I like uniformity, a new obverse is like a whole new series to me which means I have an album thats good for 3 years then need to get a new one which they probably wont make an itll just turn into a mess. Im still bitter the westward nickels have two different obverses. Plus that change may not look great on the pucks. Just leave my ATBs alone

I love the idea if and only if the ATB Quarters do NOT receive any sort of changes whatsoever, the liberty quarter should be separate from the ATB Quarters and shouldn't affect them in any way. seriously though, the only us denomination of coin I dislike right now is the nickel, I loved the pre-1990 version, but the new obverse is just hideous. Personally, I would LOVE to see the return of the Buffalo nickel, but that's just me

Either replace the dead presidents, skip the alternating design scheme with a clear depiction of liberty or else ditch the idea until either the Presidential dollars or ATB Quarters ends. There are too many changing reverses as it is, and adding 2 or 3 different coins in addition to the existing 14 adds more confusion than is really wise.

Where are all the people screaming this is just another ploy by the mint to make money? Oh thats right, it isn't the mint coming up with the idea. So since it is some committee, and not the mint, adding even more coins that are completely unnecessary into the mix it is OK.
Sorry, but the idea to me is rather ignorant. As mentioned, either one or the other. I really don't understand why people are so bent on replacing the Presidents (though Roosevelt I can see going bye bye). But if they are replaced, then they need to be REPLACED. None of this half stepping trying to please everyone bunk.
