Hi to the seller whom I think may be a regular member on here but not sure which ID. I have used your coin to ask my question because it is a valuable coin without any planchet damage.
I don't believe the attention will be damaging to your sale prospects, my sincere apologies if it is.

Question is : Does the planchet flaw under OMN add or detract value from this coin?

This can only be opinion imo so more of a Poll I guess.

Theres a difference between damage and flaws. Some flaws are interesting and add to the value. It depends who is going to bidding/buying. Someone may be after high grade error coin whilst someone might be after a flawless high grade example. They will pay largely different amounts for the same coin. The amount that PMD impacts value has to do with how detracting it is. A spot on a UNC KGV penny right on the crown is much more likely to impact value that a spot of the same size close to the rim. The focal point of the coin is the centre an the detail. So the location and degree of damage are important factors to consider when buying a coin.

That coin is overgraded and I only see it at gVF. Thr 7th and 8th pearls are too worn to warrant a higher grade IMO. As far as the planchet flaw on it goes; I dont think it inpacts value much at all on this coin.

That seller isn't a member here as far as I know and is probably the most dodgy seller on the coin section of Australian ebay. A large majority of his stuff is cleaned or misrepresented as something its not eg a proof when it clearly isn't. I would stay very very very clear of that seller, I've never heard anything good. The amazing thing is the idiots who buy the crap seem to be pleased an leave good feedback. I suppose they will be less impressed in a couple years when they go to sell it.

Obviously most Pre Decimal coins with die cracks, errors or other flaws are well worn due to the time spent in the big bad world.
In an ideal world we would love all these coins to be in pristine condition. I still enjoy all the knocks, bashes, dirt and grime that go with them because it simply means that despite their misgivings they were accepted as a useful member of the community.! (a bit like me.)

Don't worry Darge, your 1952 is pretty neat! I'm hopeless at KGVI grading so will leave that to the experts. Nice streaking though.

I think EF-gEF would be fair for that coin although it might have more lustre which doesn't show up in the photo.

The carbon streak is a big one.

Hi enworb. It is planchet damage not just a carbon streak, there is a good mm of metal missing.
It has full lustre I would say.
I have some quite phenomenal streaky planchets, I love 'em.

A carbon streak is essentially a planchet flaw isn't it? I have some similar. Theyre interesting coins and truly unique.
