This was my vicky deal of the day! How did do on this buy? I know NFLD stuff is not as popular, but at this price...it was hard to pass up... Before I say how much I paid...how much is a DECENT selling price for this coin in this condition? (I am a noob when it comes to NFLD coins) Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your long weekend :) Edited by RoyalSilver 05/20/2013 01:13 am

Great coin..!!
Would you be able to get the coin up here without the holder in view?
Just a big pic of the coin in sharp detail ...if possible.
It would be a more accurate guess if I could see a larger sharp view of this very nice vicky..

yes I know the trends, but this being a NF peice, with RB toning...I dont think it can realize such a high price.
Although...i would certainly like to hope so ! haha

Thanks for a much better view of your coin. So I'm sure that you got a great deal on it because of the R&B grade and the fact that you're not familiar with the NFLD coins. I've never bought a coin on ebay and I don't know that coin market but we do know that the prices have been soft for a long time now. As the other member has stated here,...it's a pricy coin in that high a grade and very hard to find in MS 65. I'm glad that you did get it ,...and at a great auction price too.. ....and that's how I bought most of my coins back in the 80's.

Beautiful coin! I saw it on ebay as well and thought it would go for much higher than it actually did, like double the price... I've won a few coins from the same seller before and they were even nicer in hand, he is selling off a beautiful collection...

My guess is $446.09. ;) I've been watching some of his stuff as well. You got a good deal.

Hard to tell what the true value is. I don't think ICCS (Canadian Standards) gives out MS-65 RB designations.

Maybe not, but there are graded ICCS coins at this grade according to charlton. I bought this mainly to resell or trade for coins I need

And a PCGS Red Brown grade is probably equivalent to an ICCS Red grade

I own one of the two PCGS examples graded 66RB. I bought it about 5 years ago for about $2,300 USD. Prices may have gone up a little since then, but not much.

Yeah I saw the pop report, still only 2 PCGS (and NGC) graded MS66 RB, and still only 4 graded MS65RB. I could not find any auction listings or completed listings for those grades. I guess I'll try and get a better idea at the toronto coin expo and canadian coin and currency

1896 is a fairly common NF cent date. A lot will depend upon the eye appeal of your coin in hand and whether a dealer has a ready end buyer for it. Tough to tell eye appeal from photos. Depending on the eye appeal and how PCGS did on grading that particular coin (from the holder, I would say it was graded a few years ago), I think a reputable dealer could offer you anything between $400 and $800 for it. Good luck.
For comparison, my 1896 can be seen in the PCGS registry sets (Uncommon Cents).
