Wow, Thank you John Roberts and ANACS! I submitted 36 coins to them and paid for only 3 Top 100 Morgans to be attributed and slabbed. Well I just checked my order status and my grades were posted. I sent the submission in and it was logged in on April 1st with an expected ship date of 4/22/2013. I was told that Mr. Roberts was slammed with coins due to the "Dollars and Cents" promo ($10 cost for any dollar or cent coins). Now I know why it took so long for me to get my coins back. So I am looking and I see that a 1902 o Morgan I sent in just to be slabbed as regular and it was graded and slabbed as a Hit-List 40 1902 o VAM 54 (R-6) in ms63! I am very excited to get the coin in hand and will post pictures of it when received. I think it shows how much Mr. Roberts truly loves the hobby that he took time out of his busy schedule and looked at and attributed a coin at no extra attribution cost and not under my recommendation. So Thank You sir and I will cherish it and after I complete my Top 100 set, I may just start to collect the Hit-List 40 afterward. FWIW: I purchased the coin from a nice guy in PA off of ebay who said he got it in a roll from 1960 to 1975 from the infamous and legendary coin dealer Harry Forman. It then stayed in the roll in his SDB till October 2012. I paid about $52 for the coin shipped. Then $10 for the grading Erik Edited by talkcoin 05/24/2013 01:08 am

Count your blessings, but don't push it. V54 is one of, if not the, largest doubled ears in the series. If John Roberts held it even once (and you know he did), he'd see it and not allow you to be casually deprived of an identified HL40 coin. Especially one which is uncommon in Mint State.

How can I thank him? Does anyone know what kind of scotch (if he drinks) or cigars (if he smokes) that I could send him? I would also want him to know that I don't intend to try and flip it. Even though I don't collect HL40 VAMS, I feel like the coin was destined to be mine and I think it's kind of cool that I know what dealer it came from 50 or so years ago and that it remained untouched, in a roll for many years before unearthed. It also has some semi-attractive toning (character IMHO) and is not just a blast white coin. I bought it because I thought it was an attractive piece with a cool back story. I sent it in for grading (more importantly slabbing for preservation) only because ANACS was running their special. I basically threw it on top of what I was sending in on a whim. Again, I got super lucky but I feel it happened to a good person, and a true collector of top 100 VAM and many other Morgan dollars Erik

John Roberts doesn't drink or smoke. I hear chocolate covered bacon is a treat he likes.

I guess I will mention this if it isn't obvious. ANACS is absolutely the best at customer service, which you have experienced. You will not get this level of service at PCGS or NGC. By the way, I am in no way affiliated with ANACS, just a loyal customer.

Thanks for posting the pics I use PCGS, but I have also sent 3 orders to ANACS over the last couple months and I must say I have been impressed with every coin I have sent in. I like their holders better than PCGS and NGC. I will see if I can send him some chocolate covered bacon, although it needs to be delivered to him quickly and then refrigerated quickly from what I am reading online. Maybe I can bring it to him at the LB show next weekend? Thanks for the replies, Erik

Yep I can attest to just how cool JR is! I have sent one 1878-S in he could not identify, never went any further with that one, I'll have to pull it out and maybe send it to LVA someday for an attribution.
