NorthStarCal, there 56 coins in that lot, 3786669-001 through 3786669-056, so if you want (and are willing to slog through the 'human being' tests) you can get a pretty good sampling of quality. I did not look at all but from my sample, only about 1 in 10 was a 69 with the rest 70s.

I found 5 including mine have a bald spot on the second frosted stripe. 006 015 035 037 051. Appears to be a die error, the spots are in exactly the same place. All were grade SP70. Does this mean the flaw was not noticed by NGC or just overlooked? Will this coin have extra value? http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/i...=3786669-051

North Star Cal, In my opinion, It all depends on the "bald spot" you see. Just because there is a "spot" on a coin does NOT always mean it will not meet the TPG'S grading policies, in other words it does not mean it does not rate as a 70!!!!! JMO

My last order, submitted 6 minutes before the close of sales, has shipped today and will arrive here on Wednesday. This should mean that today is the end of regular shipping and that returns have transit time plus a week to occur and then the final "mintage" should be known.

I got my final 2 sets yesterday. They look as good as the 70 set I bought - other than taking the slow boat from China to get here...I am quite pleased with this set!

I have thoroughly examined the coins in the first 5 sets I have received and try as I might, I could not find a flaw of any kind. The strikes are perfect, the surfaces are all perfect. 10 for 10 perfect 70s straight from the mint. I have my last two sets coming tomorrow and am hopeful for 12 for 12. My 2011 (5 coin) set is also perfect, I have 4 unopened single sets of those coins so I don't know hoe the coins in those sets will fair overall. West Point hit it out of the park with the quality of these sets.

Quote: They look as good as the 70 set I bought - other than taking the slow boat from China to get here Ironically I believe the packaging actually did take that route. Quote: West Point hit it out of the park with the quality of these sets. They definitely did. I believe its the highest quality set overall to date for these

I expected these to be very high grade - I think West Point has consistently shown to be the best of the current mints. San Fran has done some excellant work as well, followed by Philly... sadly Denver seems to fall down the list regularly though. I almost cringed when I heard that Denver will be involved in the Kennedy half set next year.

I was lucky with my 2012 SF Sets, they have no naked-eye flaws. But my 2013 WP Sets somehow still look "better"

My last 2 sets arrived via UPS yesterday. I examined them last night and ... 2 more perfect sets! That makes 14 flawless coins, all 70s in anybody's book. I am amazed at the quality, even for West Point.
I know that there is talk about not issuing a set next year, but I for one hope that they do. There are still variations to make and at least one mint to visit. Let's go home to Philly and strike a fully brilliant proof and another multi surface coin, and let's strike it twice and call it a proof. Philly already has experience striking a multi surface image on an SAE planchet, the 2001-2011 Silver 9-11 Medal. We all discount the ability of Denver to do a good job striking SAEs but they do a very good job striking both clad and silver proofs so I think they deserve a shot at a special SAE set, someday.
