I also received my set yesterday, after a long wait. I could see no problems with either coin, this is a pretty impressive set! I can't wait to get my RP Buffalo!

Some how this makes more sense to me! Purchased 09/08/13 $30.00 more than from the Mint, graded, holdered, and shipped free. Delivered 09/11/13 and no PBGS shipping games! This brings my set total to 2...for now

I will end up with 5 total. 1 graded 70 set I got in July + my 1st order which I got before the ER/FS deadline still in the mint box and my last 2 sets - which I am giving as gifts.

I just received my first two sets and have opened one and the coins are not only flawless but absolutely gorgeous. My next three sets (ordered early on 06jun) shipped yesterday and will arrive tomorrow. The last two are still "backordered" but they were ordered at 4:54PM ET on 06jun so they should be some of the last to ship. I will get the camera set up and get some pictures of my recent coins, I will try to do these new ASEs justice. Looking at the "enhanced American Eagle Silver Uncirculated Coin" I can't help but wonder if it is in fact a proof. I find it hard to believe that the coins could look like that with only one strike. The coin meets all of the other criteria for proof coinage. The 2009 UHRDE that the mint called a "business strike" met all of the criteria for being a proof coin, including at least two strikes.
PBGS won the race. They charged my CC yesterday, one day after they shipped and one day before I received the coins. The next three sets have shipped and the charge has not been finaluzed yet for those.

The mint can call it whatever they want to, but as far as I am concerned its an enhanced proof. I dont have mine in front of me but I would bet more of the coin has a proof field than doesn't. To me at least an enhanced uncirculated would have started with the uncirculated fields adding some proof in, instead of the proof background

I don't care what the mint calls a coin either. I go by the classic definition of proof. A coin that is struck at least twice, on a specially prepared planchet, with specially prepared dies, and given special handling on its way to the collector. Most modern "uncirculated" coins from the mint lack only the second strike, they meet all of the other criteria. Personally, I wish they would give at least the silver dollars, SAEs, and all gold "uncirculated" coins that second strike and call them satin proofs. The second strike would add significantly to the appearance of the coins and totally justify the price offset above standard bullion. I am fine with the annual "uncirculated" coin sets staying at one strike, while they get some special handling, it is not the same as that given to the SAEs or commems, and giving those coins that treatment would drive the cost up too much. For the individual large coins, the cost of a second strike is almost nil. I truly believe that the enhanced uncirculated SAE gets two strikes, it just looks too "clean" to have been hit only once (IMHO). I think that the numismatic community did itself a great disservice when it failed to come down hard on the mint when it began misusing long accepted terms for certain types of coins. The misuse was perpetrated by marketing folks that had little or none numismatic knowledge. The only truly uncirculated coins (in the classic definition of the word) sold on the mint site today are any coin sold in rolls, bags, or boxes, the Presidential four coin sets (P&D), and the ATB circulating quarters sets. Only the quarters and the Native American dollar are still minted for circulation, but the Kennedy half dollars and the Presidential dollars are circulation strikes.

I've been thinking about get a graded 70 set to go along with my 69s. The prices have seem to come down some since I purchased my 69s back in the summer.

So I got my second (why?) email from the mint today telling me that they credited the money back to me for returning the sets I ordered (see previous post - they were in really bad condition). So I called them (should have before) and asked why the return price of postage was not included in the credit. The person I talked to, Crystal, was very nice (typical of these people - that's a plus for the mint!). She asked if I had sent in a copy of the receipt from the PO. I told her that when I called to return these sets, I was only told about them crediting the cost to return after I asked and then verified it again. However, I was never told anything about sending in a copy of the receipt. I was just told to mail them and they would credit the cost of returning postage. Crystal told me that she was sorry no one had told me this and that I need to either fax or snail mail a copy of the receipt to them since the returns and reimbursements are all done by hand. I thanked her and am sending off the copy soon. I told her I appreciate the friendliness of people there at the Customer Service office, but told her I had to admit I remain skeptical as to the actual process goin off without a hitch and gaveher a very brief account of my history with them. Summing it up, she told me there is a lot of turn over in CS (although she has been there a long time) and she knows the newbies always feel like they have been thrown to the wolves without proper information to give to customers. Maybe this is why I have had so much trouble in the last two years. Maybe from now on I will just ask to speak to Crystal Also, looking back on the phone conversation, I am wondering why, since the returns and crediting are done by hand, why does the person who is handling the return & crediting not just get the postage from the box itself? The PO stamp/label should be the equivalent of a government-level documentation testifying to the value. I was also told the postage credit would take some additional time to show up (press enter key), would be given a new order number, and (when I asked) the order number will not show up online in my list of order history (why not?). Hoping the rest goes without a hitch.

Quote: I don't care what the mint calls a coin either. I go by the classic definition of proof. My objection is a little less technical but you make good points. To me its really as simple as it doesn't even pass the eye test. When you look at it the first thing I think is proof and I'm sure theres others as well. I do agree though it would have been nice if they kept a more uniform use of the terms. Some of the series are a little out of control with all the different possible versions from a technical standpoint especially in the satin years Quote:Totally agree...strange how even the TPG's have also ignored the PL designation on these. I was surprised PCGS gave them an MS designation. I was very curious to see what they were going to call them. The SP might have been the better one. It probably would have been more accurate to give it a Dcam designation as well, though I cant imagine any of them wouldnt have achieved that with how quality theyve been overall except for Earles. Sorry earl

http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/i...=3786669-051Anyone seen this? Second frosted stripe just above fold there is a bald spot. It is visible in the NGC cert pic. It was graded SP70 by NGC One off or common error? If it turns out to be common, variety should be called " moth eaten apron".

Well after 3 phone calls and 3 different stories I officially give up on Goldmart. I was first told that my Ogp was complimentary and they wouldn't replace it even though it was crushed because they cheaped out and shipped in a bubble mailer. I had to point out their website clearly listed it as part of the sale. Then I was told 3 more were on the way. After they didn't arrive I was told I had to pay to ship mine back for inspection. THEN I was told it was for training on shipping errors. So I told the lady I give up. They clearly don't stand behind their word and I would do my best to make that known. I also received some sort of credit via e-mail for a future purchase that will not show up on my account but if I buy something and call in they will apply it. YEA, because you're sooo trustworthy Goldmart!
