I haven't bought a new Charlton in a few years, so I'm new to this variety. If I understand what I've read, I think I may have a rarity. I've got one with completely intact vines and unbroken stems. It's ICCS graded MS-62 R&B (with the variety being unattributed). Is this worth a premium over a "regular" 1858 MS-62, and if so can anybody ballpark how much the premium might be?

Thanks

All vines and stems intact is the 'Full Vine' variety referred to by the original poster. Charlton 2013 pricing only goes up to MS60BN for this variety at a price of $1,500 compared to $575 for a regular. Get a good loupe/microscope and check it out. If it's good then get it regraded!

I don't have a great camera, but here's the best shot I can offer. You can clearly see that the vine is unbroken, and you'll have to take my word for it that the stems are intact. I welcome your thoughts/comments on this one.

Your right about the camera. Are you able to get that pic into a computer and crop out everything but the coin?

It's hard to see any detail in the vine at leaf #12.

I hope that the pros here have more info on your cent. It is a beauty,..no matter what the variety.

Picasa3(free Google download) is a wonderful tool on fixing up your pics.

Looks like (full vine, die crack at Leaf #13) the full vine cent I catalogued as OA2/RA3. It should have a vine crack through the D in CANADA and maybe through the R in REGINA (depending upon die state).

Of the three full vine and intact sixteen stem die pairs, this one by far produced the most coins, making it the most common full vine die marriage. It is still a scarce coin. Yours would make the third mint state coin from this die pair that I have seen. There is a 64RB and I own a 63RB.

Devlec, the vine at Leaf #12 is intact, it's a trick of the lighting (more specifically a trick of the terrible camera), and is in fact easily visible to the naked eye.

bosox, You are correct about the die cracks at Leaf #13 and the D in Canada (although the D is very faint). There's no sign of a break in the R.
