Quote: is that the finest known No, the finest is the Eliasburg, graded PF-66. There is also another PF-64, while the other 2 are in museums.

The infamous 1919 silver dollar, only three known. Although I will probably never own one, it is my "dream" coin.

My father was born in 1897. He was paid in 1915 with a new $5 gold piece (his first real full time job at a local grain elavator). I have it. Great condition. Great history. A true family piece for generations.

Since my original collecting passion was in Lincoln cents, I'll have to go with my initial thought. I would love an MS-70 1909 S-VDB. BUT...if I had to settle for an MS-69 I probably would.

Oddly enough .. it's not really a coin! It's this: This being a silver touch-piece of James III, exiled pretender to the throne of England. Whilst modelled on the gold Angel (ten shilling) coin, this one has no real denomination, being more of a medallet for supporters of the Jacobean cause. It's pierced so it can be worn on a cord or pinned to clothing by the owner. Yes, I'd like a gold touchpiece (so called because the monarch used to issue them to those he had 'touched'. Those of royal blood were thought to have the "God given" power of healing by touch, and sovereigns of England and France practised this power to cure sufferers of scrofula, a form of tuberculosis) but my budget wouldn't run to one of those! Why? Because as well as an interest in coins I have an interest in religious and talismanic objects, particularly amulets and medallions given power by their wearers' belief.

For my collection a Canadian 1921 Half-Dollar (fifty Cents) would be my dream coin.
