(Dunno if this quite belongs in Main) Back-story: In 2008, my good uncle passed away. My aunt though him has endured severe Rheumatoid arthritis since she was a teenager. As long as I've known her, she has been a slight woman with mangled hands, a stiffened back, and feet half the size they should be. Through it all, she's always been a bright spirit. She moves away from our area about 8 months after the funeral, first to Sacramento area, then to Phoenix area, Both instances close to other family members. June 22: She sends me a 1969 half from her parents' estate Today: I find a box addressed to both me and Grandpa on the table when I get home. I give it a shake and hear some jingling (intriguing). I open it, unpack it, and had to pick my jaw up off the floor, stunned at the very generous package you see here: (Full resolution: http://i.imgur.com/QJmeYKN.jpg ) The contents: Colorized 2001 ASE1991, 1992, 2000, 2001, and 2003 ASEThree 1995 $2's with consecutive serial numbers three other $2 Impared proof non-silver Bicen Ike 1972, 1974, Bicen, and 1977 Ikes 1980 S, D, and P SBA1999 D and P SBAFirst year covers(?) of the Lewis and Clark nickels: 2004-2006 D and P 1999 and 2000 Colorized State QuartersI gave her a ring to thank her profusely for it and learn that she going to move in an assisted living facility. Rather than move my uncles coins (DA HECK?! My uncle had a coin collection?!) again, she's going to send them to me! She tells me that his best coins are on their way! My head is spinning!

Wow! Very nice of her to do that. There's nothing like sorting through a batch of unknown treasures.

Sweet man! Can't wait to see what she delivers next! I swear, one of these days someone's relative is gonna end up with an 1853-O SLH or something. And we'll be here to witness that!

Wow, that's great of your aunt to think of you, knowing the coins will have a good home with you! I can't wait to see his best coins, as the ones already received weren't too shabby in the least!

Very nice! I am glad to see that the Eisenhower dollar is well represented in this package. I am also glad your aunt has recognized that you are capable of assuming responsibility for your late uncle's collection.

Package two arrived While a let down from some wild, amorphous expectations I had, there was indeed some cooler stuff in her second package, allong with dubiuous artifacts: Cool stuff:1941 - 1945 S, D, and (p) set of Mercs in Capitol Plastics holder. Funny holder that I would not buy myself, but it's cool to have. Sticker on the back of the box says the dimes are F-VF. Bell-line-less 1961 D, 1962 D, and 1963 D Halves in a piece of cardboard sealed in what apears to be vinyl. Free those soon, add them to stack in the safe. ASE in gimicky Littleton plastic thingies. Probably going to free those and buy capsules of some kind to put them in, and stick them in the safe with the other 5 good ones from the last package. 1905 IHC in littleton celo, graded good by them. Set of three Bufalo Nickels (1929 D, 1930 S, 1936) in a gimicky, grosly oversized "Morgan Mint" plastic box and card board thing that has toned the nickels on the reverse. Might crack those out and put them in 2x2's in my binder. The 1936 gives me a complete set for that year! 1936 half that I'd grade fine "Uncirculated" D and P 2003 Sacagawea and Kennedy half set in gimicky Littleton packaging that kinda resembles US mint packaging. Dubious, might flip/spend: High-relief, brass souveneer token of Chinese manufacture depicting the Gateway Arch $7.50 in P and D mint State Quarters$16 in 2007 Presidential dollars Silver plated "coin" Edge lettering: "COMMONWEALTH N MARIANA ISLANDS WORLD TRADE CENTER RECOVERY 100 MIL CLAD", proof-like face value of one dollar. Prooflike Indian Head/Buffalo round, stamped "COPY# HB1210". I suspect it's plated. Definitly spend: 2005 nickel that fell off the junk mailer "Certificate of Authenticity Card" it was glued to. All in all, a lot of great stuff.

I've been inheriting coins from friends and family for years.
I actually hate getting them now, because it usually means a turning point in someone's life and I personally get really sad when I receive them now.
Are those bills loose? I would protect them better, but whatever.
I hope your aunt is doing well. Thanks for sharing.

Great story, wonderful aunt. You need to find out what "she" likes as much as you like coins and give her a gift to show your appreciation, just a thought. John1

My pleasure to share.
@PennyPiggy: My aunt is doing well. I've got the best four bills in currency pages in my album and I spent the worst two plus another that became a spare.
@John1: Me and Grandpa intend to do something special for her.
