Today I went to a BOA branch to pay my BOA Visa Card. Teller said aren't you the person that always asks for large Dollars and Half Dollars. I said yes and she said I have some of each. I said I'll take all if that is OK. She left to go somewhere, came back with the following: 3 Morgan dollars1880 - VG8 1886 - MS-60 1890 - MS-60 6 Piece Type Dollars 1927, 26S, (2) 23S, 22, 22S All in about EF-40 40 Kennedy half dollars1 1964 Silver 39 from 65 to 2000. All in various dates and grades. Not rolled, just loose. Teller said someone just brought them in a little while ago. And it only costs face for all. Not bad for $29.00 Sure wish this happened all the time. Edited by just carl 09/03/2013 4:39 pm

Oddly enough I don't collect any of the larger Silver Dollar coins. Originally I started asking for Halves and the tellers just thought I collected those larger Dollar coins too. Naturally I'll take them for face though.

Great score! They say timing is everything and here is another proof in point.
You had better grab some lottery picks just in case your luck is still running.

Wait a minute, these aren't just "finds from circulation." They all came in at once, with mint state Morgans? Someone's collection has been liquidated at face, either by a loved one who didn't know better, or a thief!

I wouldn't have been able to hold a straight face handing over the $29.

Someone's collection has been liquidated at face, either by a loved one who didn't know better, or a thief! No, to random an assortment to have been a collection. More than likely someone with an old jar, can, box of coins laying around for years. With the economy being poor in many areas, people are dumping such things into banks. Also, when someone dies, their families usually rummage through everything and if old jars, cans, boxes of coins are found they just take to a bank.

Excellent day at the bank. It always amazes me what people turn in. At the bank where I work we have actually had people turn in Franklin and Walking Liberty halves and ask if "we still take them"? And yes, I tell them they have silver value and they should do some research before just turning them in. (Often times they just say "too busy...here you buy them and do the research")
