So I was just wondering about that, after deciding that the best way to store and display certain old coins would be in 2x2's although they don't offer the best protection. cost was a factor in my decision making, needless to say.
anyway, the coins i'd store in 2x2's are the cheaper pieces of history anyone could find for cheap i.e the cheaper pfennigs, deutsches reich and naturally the air-tites for other more significant coins, as small or reasonably priced as they might be.

My favorite method is 2x2's in plastic binder pages, then put those into ziplock bags and finally put those into a Tupperware type container.

BadThad Was it your cent collection, that you put the Lincoln Cent in airtites, then put them in the 2X2's ...then.... As you posted ... I liked that idea

Mine are in a coin cabinet. It's not the cheapest option, but I like that it's traditional and as my coins are old and aren't going to suffer if they tone a bit more, it's perfectly suited I think. https://goccf.com/t/146315&whichpage=1

Whether in 2x2s, tubes or slabs they all live in an 800 lb fireproof gun safe bolted to the floor and wall. Not the best for viewing but I feel confident they'll still be there when I get home.

Very, very nice cabinet. I'd love to display some of my stuff like that but I'm too scared to leave it unsecured. But something has to give, I'm running out of room fast.

A lot of my mixed collection of coins and notes is stored in one of these binders. Most of those are in 2x2's in BCW polypro pages. The few exeptions in the binder where the airtight I got them in fit in the square, one Ultrapro baseball card page to store the bulion coins in 2.5x2.5's, and the bills and 1994 mint set that are in curency pages Most of my sliver quartes and halves set is in a box for 2x2's I also have some folders for my monderns, including my wheats. One day, I may upgrade everything but halves and quarters to a proper album or binder, but I'd need to complete some other sets before I do so I have a few things in Grandpa's safe. I ought to have more in there, I suppose, but then I cant look at them. I ought to take a few pictures of my storage solutions and post them here.

@srs77 - Love the cabinet!
I myself am starting to move to Saflips which are Impulse Sealed and then placed in archive safe bags (similar to what slabs would go into). I can insert an acid free card into each sleeve and have a ton of room for information. I also like this as I can store my slabs and raw together in the same storage boxes which fit nicely organized in my safe, which is fitted with a renewable dessicant holder.

Thanks... Wanted one of these for a long time and finally found one. As far as security goes, let's just say it would be quite a job getting to the cabinet to begin with ;)

That's beautiful srs77!
2X2 holders for me, in boxes, in my SDB. I do keep some at home in a very non-descript location. Of course my Large Cent collection resides in a Dansco :-)

I have a variety of things in a large shoebox and some more in a bedside desk. In the shoebox its around 400 2X2 capsules and around 15 ICCS or PCGS holders of coins. In the bedside desk I have all the rolls and some world coins and some other stuff.
