Here is your chance to take a stab at a 46S Walking Liberty. I will post the slab tomorrow evening. It should be interesting to see what range we get this time.

Looks like a beautiful coin! I'll go with MS-67. Perhaps a green bean as well?

MS67 but I'm not too sure on the CAC Green seal.According to PCGS there are only 49 with none graded higher.

I see a scratch behind Liberty, but I suspect that it is on the slab.

No other significant nicks or scratches to be seen, no wear, clean rims, full lustre.
I see some rubbing marks on the high points, and some in the obverse field also, which reminds me of cabinet friction.
Good strike, but not exceptional, a little indistinct around Liberty's left hand.

MS65.

There are die polish marks/striations on the coin. I think that is the scratch you are picking up. They are on the OBV near "In God We Trust".

As far as the strike goes, it is very difficult to find an S minted coin with much more thumb. I have never understood how the San Fran mint could keep pumping out coins year after year with poor strikes. You would think at some point they would make a correction. I'm currently looking for 41S, 42S, 43S, 44S, 45S and not having much luck. With those I will fill my graded short set.

I will say with only 23 CAC MS67's it would take some deep pockets to be one of those. I would guess in the $4000 range (if that helps). Interesting to see the range from 64-67.

Nice strike.
But I believe I'm seeing luster breaks all over the coin.
From the images I'd say it's a slider (AU-58).

Yeh, these years were VERY difficult to find well struck, never mind fully struck.
The 41-S is difficult but the 42-S is even more so.

I've got a 1941-S in MS-65 CAC.
The hand is a bit flat BUT the thumb is split from the fingers.

That is probably my photography. I think you may be referring to glare on the coin from either the slab or the luster. I will give you a hint, PCGS (and CAC) have it higher then AU.

Here is the slab. Another surprise for some of you. That's it for a while. Thanks for guessing.
