$420.

I think that "chatter" is from the Mylar of the 2x2 its in, by the way. This will go to PCGS.

You should be able to at least double your money....MS65 would not be out of line for this. Even 66 wouldn't shock me if those ripples are on the mylar.

Great score!

F-VF?

When you get it, have a look for a clashed "n" on the obverse to differentiate between VAM-2 and 2A. I think you're going to find the rim hits on the obverse a little more pronounced, resulting in an MS64 coin but still quite the tidy profit.

Yeah, I know it's a VAM 2, not sure about the clashed N, so it could be an A. These are the exact images he put up there, same size and all, so I couldn't zoom in. I think the flatness above the ear and on the chest (weaker strike) combined with a clueless seller = F-VF for a grade lol. I'll be satisfied with a 63 or better, but that doesn't mean I think it's a 63. I'm withholding my opinion until I get it in-hand.

In the case of 1885-CC Morgans, nice problem-free lower grade coins can fetch money comparable to those in lower-MS grades.

I was bidding on a nice PCGS AG-3 1885-CC, and the final bid was $50 more than what a local dealer was asking for a blast-white PCGS MS-61 coin with great luster and only small bag hits.

In this case, I might accuse the seller of deliberate undergrading to attract bidders who collect circulated Carson City Morgans, because the 1885-CC is the "key" if one is collecting a CC set in a specific lower grade (VF or below).

Nice AG-3 1885-CC's are going for more than what I paid for my 1889-CC in that grade

The seller wasn't a coin guy, it was his first listing in a month and his only listing in his history besides two other Morgans that weren't as nice/valuable as he was asking. He clearly didn't know how to grade coins. I understand the '85-CC is a condition rarity in VF or worse, but the reality is this, which is a 3 or 4, is more valuable than those. The reason a 61 goes for less than an AG3 is purely because of lowball collectors... I have the lowest pop '74-D Ike and turned down $200 for it... that would be MS66 money on the other side of the scale.

I'd say "WAY TO GO" That was a steal at VF-EF money! MS64 minimum, and the clash I can see seems like only on the reverse - you get the "n" clash on the obverse you are really doing well. Double your money is correct.

Not sure if this seller is ever going to send me this coin... Uploaded a tracking number but no further info has ever been received... It's been a week since I bought it. Pretty close to writing it off and filing a case.
