I picked this one up at a very fair price. I think people are underestimating how rare the modern Winnipeg produced errors like this (which are not back door jobs) actually are. Hard to believe this coin actually fits into a plastic mint roll tube (which it does). The lip on the obverse sticks way up, but without any design. Perhaps the second strike by the reverse die was done with the coin sitting on the collar? I had that one on my watch list! Given the audacious asking price, I did not have the courage to bid the kind of price I suspect you ended up paying...... Good stuff!!

I probably even paid much less, than the number you are imagining in your head.... That seller owed me a favour...
I am debating if I should add this coin to my next PCGS error submission batch. Modern errors are just so darn scarce...

Roger I believe your coin did not eject properly and a blank planchet sat properly in the striking chamber with your just barely overlapping it. Very nice coin.

That seller has had a few nice error coins up for sale over the last year or so.
I was watching it and was surprised to see it go. Well done if you got it at the right price. Very nice piece for your collection SPP.

That seller is a good honest dealer, and I have bought a few pieces from him over the last three years. He sometimes gets really cool or hard to find exonumia. Too bad that his ebay listings occasionally bear the brunt of a certain Canadian Coin News error columnist, who seems to have nothing to write about these days, other than posts that are cut and pasted from here, and surfing ebay for stuff to ridicule... (oops, did I say that out loud?)
