There was two half rolls of UNC Buffalo nickels in the lot. 38 D and 35 D....yes...I picked one of each to take home.

The 38 D's were very nice. Several have some faint, but beautiful blue and lavendar toning.

35 D's were just as nice.

I narrowed the half roll of 38 D's to 12, then picked from there. Which would you have picked?

If you are using Internet Explorer, in the lower right corner of your browser, you should see a box with "100 %" . Click on that and enlarge the entire page to your desire. With the small size of pictures allowed on this site (to reduce cost of bandwidth), you will not be able to see the detail you wish...but..at 200%, you might get an idea. :)

So, of the 20, I picked 12 of each, then narrowed the list down from there. Down to 4 on each and it was a toss up. 16x loupe in hand made it even tougher.

ALL of these coins have been in storage for 20-25 years. Could almost smell the dust! :)

As I wanted to help out and get through as much coinage as possible, I had to move on. But, when something jawdropping crossed my path, especially if there were two or more, I set one aside.

Ended up with 3, killer, 1942 S Wash quarters. But, I forgot to have my dealer discuss the three with me, to pick the best and leave with one. So, I need to take two back...along with a couple others that I doubled up on.

More pictures. These are cell phone pictures at low resolution.

1935 D - Definitely UNC, but flat, golden touch of toning.

1938 D - wonderful, lustrous, with hint of blue and lavendar toning. Lots of luster that is nice.

Group shot of some of quarters. A couple of these were pulled from my book because they were replaced. The 1960-1964 proofs I purchased from this hoard. The 62 has a little cameo intact. I doubled up on 41 D, 42 D, 42 S, 48 S, 51 D, & 53 P.
