Only $5,000... wouldn't such a pattern be worth more?
I am always interested to see how people pay more for especially rare dates than they do for one-of-a-kind patterns. If I had $5,000 I would be seriously tempted by this unique item... (unless I know nothing about American patterns and there are thousands of these)

It's thought there are about 15 of these in copper and the same in silver. This one is on the low end of the graded scale for the known examples. Obviously, they don't hit the market often enough for any solid conclusion to be drawn about value; this one strikes me as somewhere in the neighborhood of "appropriate."

It's definitely a cool pattern. It looks like the broken "D" wasn't unique to the Morgan dollar.

According to the only reference I have the starting price is about correct.

Certainly a very interesting pattern. It looks perfectly genuine to me. Nevertheless, I would want to be 100% assured as to the reputation of the seller.
Charles M. Larson in his book NUMISMATIC FORGERY, shows how extremely high quality fakes of these can be made.
With these two factors in mind, at this price level, due diligence by an intending buyer prior to purchase is essential.

Wow, that is really nice! I love the reverse design... And obviously love the Morgan obverse... But again... Wow! I just said something in my milestone, 1000 post thread about how I still learn new things all the time... Here's a great example, I had no idea these were out there.. Time to start saving...
What an amazing coin, if I had an extra $5k I'd absolutely buy it in a heartbeat! What an amazing part of history!
Is there a difference in the silver ones prices? I'd be completely guessing but I'm assuming they cost more?

Great pattern. Very interesting as to the whole idea of patterns in general. I was thinking of getting a nice pattern for me collection but alas it is impossible to find them under $700.

The WOW factor alone would be worth the 5K price tag. How many people can say the own a Morgan dime.

That's pretty cool! I like it just as much as the Barber.

Cool coin. But the verdigris on the obverse alone would keep me from buying this coin.
If this were the asking price for an authentic silver version.... :)

They should be of roughly equal value, but I'm with you on the verdigris. This one should probably be resubmitted to one or the other of the conservation services to have it arrested.
