Excellent find. Hope you get a good price for it. I did have an experience where a teller was keeping silver dollars and refused to sell them to me.

@ Joseph7420 Yeah, I guess it was 8s.. @nickelphr33k Quote: I did have an experience where a teller was keeping silver dollars and refused to sell them to me. They don't have to 'sell' them, I am just lucky my tellers don't collect.

SHAFT.. as a customer you have every right to the silver dollars...
You can put up a fuss you're entitled and have every right as a customer... the major question you have to ask is.. how much is it worth to you... Personally I just politely ask for the branch manager.. some choose a bit more of a higher ground than I and just walk.. others may cause a real stink in the branch...
But if you do see that they have silver dollars you're entitled to them...

Quote: But if you do see that they have silver dollars you're entitled to them... Just got off the phone with my Bank Manager, CIBC, and she said if the tellers wanted to keep anything that came in it was fine with her as long as their tills balanced out at night. Or.. they can pass them on to their customers.

I will retract my orginal statement... I had made it on the basis of personal experience. I once walked into the bank and asked for old bills and silver coin.. when the teller went to go into "the muffin box" as they call it... another teller said there's nothing and took the box away... my teller then said that I had inquired and asked to buy out of it.. the other teller said she was going to buy them at the end of the shift... a manager came out and had said if there's a customer asking unless its at the end of the shift and the teller can buy it with out claim they're available to the customers that walk in that day.
I guess I just got lucky....

I wish I could be that lucky! Maybe that's why my bank's so slow, they're all out back looking for the good stuff.. lol

Technically speaking, each note has the same rarity as the next because of their serial numbers. It's just that some groups of people like cool superstitious numbers. If you ever get a solid 8 note I would try to sell it to a Chinese collector who absolutely must have it.
