They say that "even a blind hog finds an acorn once in awhile". I just picked this pair up for 9 dollars, shipped. These are the seller's pictures ... along with the disclaimer "what you see is what you get" Couldn't be more pleased. Chance

I was just looking at some 42/1 and this one doesn't look too clear. Post some better pics when it comes in

I see what you're seeing, but am reserving judgment. The 1942/1 is an extremely strong overdate, moreso than I'm seeing here.

Do a google image search and you will see several examples, slabbed by PCGS and NGC that are quite difficult to discern. They are not all strong.

There's no debating that there is somethng happening at the date but the coin was also harshly and abbrasivley scrubbed therefore that portion of the date could have taken some damage. It could be an illusion and you will not know until you have it hand and have taken a loupe to it.

The philly is the strongest one and even low grade examples you can pick it out. Exactly what Superdave said

This reminds of a thread a few weeks back regarding an 1883-"S" Morgan that turned out to be an 1883-0 when the buyer received it. Pictures can be deceiving. Out of focus settings, tilting the coin, scattered lighting can all lead to wishful thinking and lead us to bad decisions.
Let us know what it looks like after you receive it.

It could be a 2/1 but I don't think it is. It's worth a shot to find out so long as it's cheap. I remember a guy on CU Forums finding one ebay a year or two ago so it still can happen. Let us know what happens because it would be one heck of a find if it actually is a 1942/1.

Oh, for $9 I'm taking this chance ten times out of ten.

Yeah ... cheap entertainment, and when it's small change, worth a look-see. If it isn't ... then it isn't. We'll see next week.
