It's probably too late now, but did you happen to opt for their coin imaging service for $3 per coin? Congrats on the AU55 Half Cent too!

Thanks oih82w8
I saw that when I downloaded the submission form, I was not sure what it was so I did not select it.
what is it? they keep an image on file? I thought when you search by the slab number their would be a photo there anyhow. maybe that's what it was for?

NGC seems to be moving away from providing images for free, at least I see more "image not available". I am thinking about sending in my two "free ones" and selecting the imaging service to test it out. PCGS emails you the link for the images (five sizes from tiny to huge) but they charge $10 per coin versus ANACS $3 per coin. The difficulty I have with lighting my coin images, $3 is a steal!

I really don't understand the contention about this one, from anyone's viewpoint (looking at you, ANACS). The bottom robe fold is a slam dunk, not subject to discussion. It's conclusive, and that's all there is to it. I don't know how it can be any clearer.

I agree Dave, the scary part was they retrieved the coin and compared it to another 1916 (with date) they had in house. They have authenticated quite a few no date 1916's, It was packed and sitting in the shipping department awaiting Fed Ex pick up, a couple hours more and I would have a 1916 T1 sitting in a 1917T1 slab.

I agree that is no doubt a 16! The graders must be over work not to catch such obvious pick up point.
Congrat!

In case anyone thinks I was a bit too harsh, understand that I'm believing this to be an error of overlooking, not a failure due to incompetence. Yeah, that's a small grey area, but in no way do I believe ANACS incapable of identifying a 1916 based on the evidence this particular coin shows.

I would think it would be standard procedure to check all dateless type 1's against 1916 attributes. I guess Asok the intern was working that day.
