Gripe Alert!! On December 22, 2013 I won a '1981 SUSAN B. ANTHONY SOUVENIR SET' item# 201005072291 for $23.16 plus a few other items from ebay seller 'Coins by Bobby'. I paid him and he posted a tracking number for my purchases. On December 25, 2013 Bobby canceled the SBA set and refunded my money + 10%, with a message stating: "Dear billions,
I am very sorry, but I made a listing error on this item. I have 79 & 80 sets, but no 81. I got these from an estate, and I have no other source. I am going to refund your purchase plus 10% for your trouble. I am very sorry for the error. I hope you are having a Merry Christmas!
Bobby". Yet this seller has listed for sale '1981 SUSAN B. ANTHONY SOUVENIR SET' item# 191007778089. So why didn't the seller cancel this item and send it to me?... I believe the seller didn't like the price I paid for the listing and cancelled it. The seller pulled this type of stunt with me about 15 months ago and it took me this long to give him another try. But now I will NEVER buy from this seller again. I have reported him to ebay and they are to look into his business practices. If the seller cannot honor his contract with the buyer and resorts to type of shenanigans, then they shouldn't be in business. If you have had similar experiences with 'Coins by Bobby' contact ebay and report him. Thank you and have a Merry Christmas.

So, you received the packet with tracking with all the coins less that item?

No, all I have is a tracking#.
I haven't received any thing yet.
The seller actions are as if the items were already shipped, but this isn't the case.

I'm not condoning the behavior, but I might be willing to give a little benefit of the doubt to a guy who sells more than 2000 items a month for messups with volume listing. He gave you a refund, and threw extra money into that refund for your trouble, and you're telling us to beware of him?
Heck, I wish everyone I bought from was like that.

I noticed that with high volume sellers, they have the practice to automatically create the shipping labels in advance, so to have buyer believe that the item is already shipped at the hands of post office.
I haven't buy anything from the named seller, most are modern stuff with lesser interest to me, but I do believe he made the mistake, at least he refunded you plus 10%, some other sellers will go other worst route.

SDave, Yes I am. It wouldn't be an issue if the seller wasn't currently selling another set. If you read his neutral and negative feedback, others say to beware of this seller too. I am not the only one.
This is my gripe. A seller should not list an item if they do not have it, period.
The seller says he does not have the coin set that I bought from him, then why he is selling the exact item to someone else? If he was an honorable seller, he'd cancel the open auction and fulfill his contractual obligation with the buyer of the closed item. Selling 2000 items a month is not an excuse for such behavior, it shows the lack of inventory control.

What I understand is that he cancelled just the SBA item so he shipped (with tracking number) all the other items you bought. Now, if he relisted the SBA, I would ask him about it to see what he has to say.

chances are the new item also doesn't exist. 2,000 sales a month is a lot to keep track of, on top of buying, listing, and probably running a retail outlet. the guy went good on his mistake, working on Xmas day even, what more can you ask for?

Contacted the seller about the new one, asked if it was stock photo or something. his reply "It is a stock photo. In fact, there is a problem with this auciton that ebay will not allow me to address until the auciton is over. I found out that my software had listed these sets. I have not had these sets in over 4 months, and I do not know how that happened. I cancelled the rest of the auctions, but because this one had less than 12 hours left, ebay will not allow me to cancel it until it is over. I am very sorry, but if you win I will have to ask for forgiveness on the auction. I will be happy to give you a great deal on something that I do have. My sincere apologies." I was skeptical of him and his intentions at first but his reply leaves little doubt in my mind of his integrity. If he ever has a coin I want to buy at a good price I would be fine with dealing with him.

I have bought numerous proof and mint sets from him back in the mid 2000's, never a problem. I'd buy from him again.
