Easy ones to watch out for are micro O Morgans...1896, 1900, and 1902 micro O Morgans are contemporary counterfeits. Even so...people still collect them and they can carry a premium. They all share the same reverse die. There are legitimate micro o varieties...like the 1899-O. At the very least...if its silver...like many have said you did ok. Check the diagnostics tho. On the other hand...if it is why did the seller let it go for $6? That's not enough $ to sell it...for me at least. But it is worth the chance to find out if its fake. I would have picked it up too! The only way to tell is to VAM it or show it to an experienced coin dealer. Have you done the tissue paper test to see if it is actually silver? The one that Earle42 posted https://goccf.com/t/119357 is a pretty decent fake, I mean if I knew nothing about VAM's I would believe it was real with photos. It even has a die chip in the 8 of the date that I have seen on many VAM's. That being said the one in the OP thread does not have anything other than the reeding that I can say looks unusual.
