XF Details - Improperly Cleaned. I'd take it out of the 2x2 and put it on a piece of raw oak and sit it on a windowsill.

Looks like it's around a EF-40. Appears to be borderline between whether or not a TPG calls it market acceptable or cleaned.

EF-40 details. Don't think it would go problem free in a TPG. FYI, it is a B-4. The best I can tell from these pics, it is a die state (a) noted by the die crack on the obverse starting at the rim at about 4:30. R-3. Nice quarter!

B-4 (love the die crack), easy XF Details. The finish is probably far too even for a TPG to ignore. Either way, though, I don't believe as many as 150 collectors at once can ever own an 1818 Quarter in a grade like this or better. The fact that it's by far the most common Scroll Reverse Bust Quarter does not in any way imply it's "common."

I'd say EF-45 details. There don't appear to be any obvious hairlines so the cleaning was not abrasive. The strike is solid and there are no rim bumps or other significant defects.

I like BH1964's suggestion: a passive retoning process may improve the look of this coin significantly. If the unnaturally bright surfaces become more muted it's not out of the question that this piece could eventually certify as problem-free.
