I just received this shipment from provident with the latest Zombucks series round, the ZomBuff. The release was delayed until mid January. As you can see in the pictures the quality of the copper rounds is pretty bad. It looks like the blank platchets are too big for the zombuff design being stamped on them. As well as being off center. I know copper rounds are not really bullion pieces that need to be high quality and graded but I thought provident could have done a little bit better job than this. At least the quality of the zombucks silver rounds are not as bad. Let me know what you guys think.

Quote: I know copper rounds are not really bullion pieces that need to be high quality and graded I'm thinking that you started off with they wrong idea. They "are" just bullion pieces, which means the "are not" going to be high quality and gradable. They are silver rounds, they are mass produced to less than exacting standards. Just for comparison, in 2011, 35,000,000 Bullion ASE's were struck. PCGS has graded only 57,377..... MS60-MS70. One should expect no major gouges or scratches, but to expect MS69-70 coins from bullion production, is a bit optimistic

I think any expectation of copper rounds (especially sensationalistic clutter like these) being well made is wildly misplaced. Provident is laughing their heads off every step of the way to the bank when they deposit all the money they're raking in from this project and it's really hard to care about quality control when you're laughing as hard as they are. Deficient quality control has been a major ongoing problem with all of these skeletonized Queen Elizabeth, zombie-obsessed and other anti-establishment rounds ever since they came out. Read through https://goccf.com/t/140066&SearchTerms=sbss and you can trace through the history of how the first of all these efforts skyrocketed to absolutely stellar popularity and then blew it all, crashed and burned.

I understand that these copper rounds are just for fun (Not worth much). I'm more of a collector not really a stacker. Just thought the quality of them could have been better.

Copper is about $3 a pound, you'd think that even on this novelty Junk, that they are charging $2 PER OUNCE for they would take a little time and care with it. Not to discourage you, as with all purchases if you like it then it's a good dead... err... deal

I think they are past caring on these rounds. Soon they'll bleed dry the U.S. coin design pool and move onto world coins... and a little twisted part of me wants to see this series continue long enough for such standouts as Zombie Ataturk, Zombie Sun Yat-Sen, Zombie Margrethe II, etc.

While I agree with FF about expectations of quality, I must take exception with his characterization of Provident Metals. I have bought many....many coins from them in the past and have found them to be a first class operation. Libertads, ASE, Pandas and Philharmonics and others coins and have always received exceptional coins and customer service. These are silver rounds , no more, no less. They sell for $2-$3 over spot. Much less than you can get ASE's and many other bars and rounds for. At least they are trying to make silver stacking fun for young collectors, and charging no more than a "regular, boring silver ropund. The implication that they are gouging people with pricing and quality , and comparing them to the other fly by night operation that he linked, is unfair to an established quality bullion dealer like Provident.

It honestly doesn't look that bad. A little off center yes, but they arent going to burn through dies or replace them as quickly as they will with silver ones. I have to agree expecting the same quality for the copper ones as others is expecting too much. Even the US mint puts out awful quality from time to time on collector coins with a far greater premium like the 2012 ASE set or the 2013 5 Star General Half

I like the Zombucks silver rounds, but I own no copper. I also own lots of ASE's and they bore me to death, unlike the Zombucks silver series.

I do like the designs and I asked at my LCS about them, he had not heard of them. but said he'd look into them maybe. The silvers that is, I have nothing against Provident but they are laughing to the bank on the copper. He said he would not worry about copper, but might get some in silver. I don't want to buy in bulk and don't want to waste tons on shipping but I'd love to have one of each design. I still think it's Junk, but fun junk.

I agree those coppers look pretty bad..but as others have said...they aren't expected to be earth shattering.
I've gotten all the silver ZomBucks so far and they look ok. I have no desire to spend $50 and buy the proofs - lets face it they aren't that nice!

I also like the zombucks series. its something different and it seems like the first one is already gaining a bit of value. Its strange because I noticed the quality of the copper round for the first to in the series exceeded the quality of the silver rounds. But it seems to have gone the other way for the new zombuffs. Any how ill still collect the series. I am a zombie fan

I still like the design and concept, but it does need to be pointed out that these are not coins. Quote:from: when is a coin really a "coin" - https://goccf.com/t/171105MY definition of a coin is something that is issued by the government where it is intended to circulate, designed to be used in commerce at face value and readily acceptable or intended to be such. - n9jig It's a novelty, bullion rounds and nothing more. OK so let's say the year IS 2017 and zombies walk the earth... you go into a trading post and spend your ONE silver Zombuck for a pair of mukluks with less holes then the ones you have on, and a can of peaches that expired in 2014, in change you get 22 copper rounds. a little while later.... You are being chased by a heard and they catch you because your 'Change' weighs you down and the mukluks keep slipping, the expired peaches are not helping with running much either.
