This coin appears to me to be a cast replica. I need to take a closer look at the devices, but my initial reaction to the coin is cast.

I found this!

"This is the coin I was trying to determine if it was real or an older counterfeit in this thread Link. I bought it thinking it was cut to make change. Also looks to have an older cut mark on the reverse to test for silver.

Seller noted: "Offered here is an old copy of a U.S. Seated Liberty half dollar. It was found metal detecting in a very old park with many original coins from this period so I assume it was made around the date of the coin. It is broken obviously but perhaps it has some interesting study value to someone. Not sure what it's made off. Some type of white metal."

It came from Canada. Payed less than ten bucks, so took a shot. What you all think? Old fake? Real but corroded? Cut to make change or just broke some how?"

Since you provide no metrological specifications here are just some random comments ... white metal is usually a term thrown around by collectors of all levels when they wish to call a coin that is light and not a heavy cast ... be that as it may ... but its actually tin with lower levels of antimony and lead although sometimes the lead values can be high going into double digits as a percentage of the alloy. The piece looks like it was clipped after being mint struck as the letters near the edge are full with no indication of bifurcation. The letters are sharp so I doubt its a high lead cast production piece. Interesting fake of the period (probably) which was clipped down for whatever reason ...
