I am a relative newbie but this 1864 on ebay does not look right to me. The surface, date and lower rim look wrong compared to other photo's of this year.

How does it happen that a seller with "coins" in their name, feedback totling 14,700 @100%, put something like that up? And there've been 14 bids on it.

On the far left hand side across from the Description and Shipping & Payment tabs there is a Report item in blue, click on it and go through the steps.

Frank Cooper, thanks for reporting this.

MeadowviewCollector, thank you for telling me how to report this. I went through the steps so that I can report these things myself in the future.

Help a brutha out and tell me why you think it's fake, please.
Sure looks real to me but I'm relatively new to collecting.
I would say it's his lighting and a cleaning. He doesn't say
that it's a 64L.

If you cannot even name the correct type of coin, I think it is rather irresponsible to be calling it a fake. This is a cupronickel 1864 with a rounded bust as stated in the auction, the 1864L is a bronze coin with a pointed bust. The rim looks "wrong" because it is a Very Late Die State coin with die crumbling that affects the rim- it is essentially a series of small Cuds.

It's listed as a '64 copper-nickel, not the bronze L. It does look incredibly clean...
Rest in Peace

I don't see anything on this coin that points to it being a counterfeit. You claim it is a fake but provide no supporting data to back up your claim. I think you need to be 100% sure before accusing anyone of selling a fake.
