This is the Sheldon variety S-6, R-3. Called by Crosby the Sprung Die variety. Per Breen, the variety was struck April 4-9 1793, with a estimated struck number of 8000 examples. This particular example seems to be an early die state, with the bulge (later forming behind the hair) only barely visible, if at all. It has multiple small rim disturbances, mostly on the reverse, but compensates somewhat with a mostly smooth planchet devoid of porosity and corrosion, and a nice color. Ex Spinks London. How would you grade it?

Sorry, the dollar man, I really do not mean to come across that way. But there is nobody over here I can share my collection with, and discuss.

Pretty cool how you can narrow the mintage of a coin over 220 years old down to 5 days!

Wow.
I think we are seeing some obverse strike weakness.
Lovely problem free example :-)

F12...Very nice! Good strike. Too much wear for a VF grade.

Thanks as usual for all your comments and opinions.
I think Vermontensium's observation is correct regarding a weak obverse strike. The coin has a F12 obverse and a VF+ reverse; a weak obverse strike would be an explanation for that.
Yes, ideally I would like to have this, and some other coins slabbed. However, I fear that PCGS in this case may decline due to the reverse rim problems (?) I don't know enough about their acceptance criteria, but from what I have read, this would be the case. Another issue is of course the logistics of submitting coins, given my location.
