Anyone know what happened here? An acid bath? I didn't notice how grainy the surface looks until I zoomed in on the pics.

I would guess its been plated. Do you know its weight?

Plated Bi-Centennial coin. Probably came out of a holder someone made up for this year.

That must be it. Weighs in at 3.18 grams. Do you know what it might be plated with and why? Someone messing around?

My guess is that it has been zinc plated in a school laboratory.
