Any ideas what the deal is with this? It's a 1980-P Roosevelt dime and I almost miss took it as a older penny, It's a bronze chocolate color and it doesn't have a speck of nickel on it It doesn't appear to have been messed with in any way so anyone know whats with this dime?

Would the coin be pitted or anything if it were in the ground? it doesn't have any marks or anything like that it is as if the plating has been totally removed with no other type damage

Nope, It is as stated a metal detector find. Depending upon the soil conditions, nickel clad composition coins remain unpitted and often just darken to a brownish red color.

Have Fun,

Yup, my sentiments exactly...or in this case, sediments.
