It is probably a very good list of some of the more interesting, easy to find and identify varieties. It is pretty cool that it got mentioned in Coin Week magazine.

Yeah, It's nice to see a little ink in the main stream media about the sector of the hobby we enjoy most. For every one interested here it is, http://www.vamworld.com/THE+WOW+LIST I like the fact that my favorite VAM is on the WOW list (although not any of the other popular lists) the 1883 O VAM 1C.

Rob did a FANTASTIC job...EVERYBODY I know that purchased the WOW book thinks very highly of it. Not only the contents of the book but also the quality of it ie materials used. I'm looking forward to grabbing up myself!

I guess some of them are not as easy to find as one would hope, i.e the scarface, 1878 VAM 9, etc.. but there are still many on the list that should be easy to cherry pick. Rob did a great job with the list.

The 1878-P VAM9 and 1878-S Long nocks were some of my first cherry picks - though I was looking for them right as the Top 100 book was coming out, after a class I took with Jeff Oxman and Michael Fey at the ANA summer seminar. So VAMs weren't very hot in the market at that time yet. In fact it took several years before anyone really cared at all about them. There are a lot of silver dollars out there, and many that have still never been vammed. So keep your eyes open and your loupes ready!

Quote: I guess some of them are not as easy to find as one would hope... For any list to be fun, there are going to have to be a few coins that take a good amount of hunting. If they were all easy to find, you'd get to the end wishing it had been more of a challenge. Good luck with the new set, and don't forget to register it in the SSDC registry if you're a member.

I really like reading the VAM articles that are located in the archives in the SSDC registry. There is also a list of major coin shows. You can upload your entire inventory of VAMs and have all of the info in one place. There are many other great reasons to join the SSDC but the VAM articles alone are worth the $22 yearly membership fee and the registry is just the icing on the cake. http://www.vamworld.com/SSDChttp://www.ssdcvams.com/
