AU-50 details. Appears to have some scratches in the field by Indian's face.

are you sitting a gold coin on an actual silver eagle or is that a backdrop of some sort?

Err, Jon, AU52 doesn't exist. Au50, Au53, Au55, Au58, then Ms60. Looks like its on a silver eagle to me!

That must have been a typo as I was in a rush. It should say 53!

I'd call it MS details, cleaned or polished. All the details are there, strong feather detail on the reverse wing... but it looks shiny and lackluster to me. Could just be the photos though.

Also might want to verify it for authenticity....these were heavily counterfeited, and something just doesn't seem right.

I'm at AU-50 perhaps 53, better pics would help. The coins looks a bit weird, like it was polished.

Sandblast/matte proofs were made in 1908, 1911 and 1915. Is it possible that this came from one? The more I look, the more detail I see.

Sorry.. I got busy! yes that is my 1996 ASE in background but they are not really touching.. the coin came from AMPEX and I think they have away to test gold.. it was one of those random year deals (cleaned) .. first coin they sent me was the 1927 but it had solider work and got sent back and this was the replacement so anything is possible with AMPEX as that 1927 they sent me is a low mintage year and killed me to send it back. I will see if I can up the pixels on my camera for you guys.

APMEX is reputable so it is probably genuine(unless they were duped too, which is possible with high quality counterfeits)....but that explains why it looks cleaned. It has great details though!!. I'd say its a keeper, since you bought it as a cleaned coin anyway.

Stipulating it's a Details coin (you can see why in LI of LIBERTY and places on the reverse)....
I'm torn as regards circulation or the lack thereof. The obverse (feathers) hints at circulation but the shoulder/wing is strong. I'd prefer larger pics to come down firmly on either side, but I don't really think this one circulated.
