Sorry. It is Machine Doubling. The devices are flat shelf like and reduced from the die movement. Hang in there, you will find something. It just has to be there on the coin.

Ok thanks and I hear ya...hey question-I'm seeing an awful lot of Machine Doubling on so many of my coins that I'm looking over-I'm guessing this is typical? Is Machine Doubling really this common? Like a lot of coins I see it on-probably 50% or better

Absolutely ! If there were that many Doubled Dies out there, they wouln't be nearly as collectible.

See how those letters show that step or cut down version? Thats a dead give away that its Machine Doubling.

The IDEA is to find Doubled Die Obverse ( DDO) and Doubled Die Reverse ( DDR) coins with a FULL letter with no cutting and it has ADDITIONAL thickness (a lot), or even additional lettering (doubling), or doubled devices on regular coins.

Actually, this is Die Deterioration Doubling. You can see doubling on both the right and left sides of some of the letters.

Does this help?

The simplest way to wrap your mind around it...imagine holding two pencils in one hand and writing your name the spread is more or less how far apart the two tips are..

I keep hoping they will stop production of the half dollar. They don't circulate at all. Start making Dollar coins only, get rid of the dollar bill. Put the dollar coins in the till where the halves are supposed to go and make $2 bills to put into the dollar slot in the tills. Coins last a lot longer than a paper bill does. Save money, not make something that wouldn't be used, not just collected.

They should get rid of the stinking Zinc cents and then more of the half dollars will be used, as change will be rounded up.

Coop the $2 bill never caught on because they never got rid of the $1 bill. I also like your call on the half.
