Hi all. Has anyone seen a coin like this before? It looks to smooth and consistent to be PMD but I have not seen anything like it before.

PMD sorry to say. It looks like the edge was ground away so it would fit in a holder, maybe encased is a good luck charm

Most surely PMD. I wonder what was the meaning behind this one.

Or shaved down to fit into a bezel/holder like Fuzzy13 mentioned. It didn't happen at the mint. The reverse rim tells me that. It is normal and the obverse was angled off after it was turned loose to the public. Coin homicide! LOL

Haha I agree coop! I figured there was no way this happened at the mint. I'm curious as to what tool or machine was used to create this. It is VERY consistent and smooth all the way around. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Beveling the edge would be a simple task for someone with access to a lathe.
