Copper is fun, lots of tones!

Too many obverse scratches to make AU?

I would say it makes AU. Nice blue toning!

Yes, I agree on AU. I see some slight wear on the Queen's hair.

Thanks! Amazing what you can find in rolls, I've found a few pink pennies but this is my first blue one.

I guess the scratches breaking the blue tone is distracting me. By high AU, does it mean AU-58?

Thanks.

So are the AU grades like this?
High AU = AU-58
Mid AU = AU-55
Low AU = AU-53 or AU-50

And the other grades (say VF because there's a lot of numbers on that one too) are similar in name?

I only see the tiniest bit of wear on the reverse, but too bad about that patch of irregular colour on top of NT. Doesn't take too much off from eye appeal but it's just kinda annoying.

Just wondering, If a coin's two sides look very different in grade for some reason (say the obv is AU and the rev is VF because the obv was covered in something protecting it from circulation wear while the rev is not), will it still be assigned one grade, or one for each side?
