I was going through my longtime accumulation of world coinage this evening, and ran across some items I absolutely didn't remember even having. Two of those I'm showing in this post, both 3d, one of which may not strictly speaking belong here, but it's such a nice companion piece to the one that definitely does that I included it anyway.

They are both tiny coins but 50% silver.
Anything below EF is BV only.(the British coin)will be worth less than 0.30p (1.414g)
The African BV the same.(although I don't know the African key dates)
In the UK traditionally they included a few in the XMAS pudding for the kids to find.

Would it be wrong to suppose that many of these have in fact been melted down?

Not any reason to supposed they've been melted any more than any other silver coin really - the Southern Rhodesia coins are quite collectable so although that year is not a key date maybe £3-4 on a buy it now on ebay if prepared to wait. Less on auction.
